Re: I got a ticket and I didn't do it!
... and sometimes I even tend to stop too far behind so I have to scoot up.
If you stop to far behind the white line... in Florida that is not considered a complete stop. That might be why you got it. If you made a complete stop then rolled up to the sign the police officer might have just "caught" you rolling up and through the sign.
Sorry you got the ticket though!

On our ticket it said you could fight it in court too but if it was not decided in your favor you would be liable for the fine plus the court costs. We went ahead and paid the $327.
sstep, where on 75 was the speeding ticket? If it was in Monroe or Peach county they've been running speed traps for years and have been cited by the govenor for doing it but refuse to change their tactics because it brings money for the community. Look into getting the fine overturned.

When I stop too far behind the white line, I scoot up and stop where I should have stopped in the first place. This time, though, I did not stop too far back. I looked up the penal code or whatever it is for the "failing to stop" and there is another code for a "rolling stop" and I did neither. I am the most careful driver I know. My mother even said she can't imagine me not stopping.

Re: I got a ticket and I didn't do it!
this reminds me of the time my friend and i were out. we were stopped at a stop sign for 5 minutes, no lie, because there was this access bus that was in our view so she didnt want to risk going and getting hit, plus we saw the cop sitting on the street watching for people. he pulled us over, claimed we didnt stop, well DUH we were basically parked there, if that isnt a stop i dont know what is. she ended up paying the fine because her mom didnt want the drama of fighting it. but we got even, they cops frequent her mom's pizza hut and haha no more free food for them!

Find out if the Cruiser had a dash board camera. Most do today. If so ask to view it.

Re: I got a ticket and I didn't do it!
Wow where do you guys live where you have to pay court costs??? Everyone around here fights their tickets and I have never heard of having to pay traffic court costs. Also, around here if you send in the ticket and set a court date, then it doesn't count as late, if they make you pay it you have 30 days from the court date to pay the ticket. Geez, I really thought MA was the worst about courts and laws, lol. Not that I've ever gone, but my fiance and a TON of my (guy) friends have. I really hope it gets taken care of though, definitely ask to see pictures. Just be polite in court, tell the truth and you'll be fine!

Here too - once you request a trial, the original due date is gone. Unless you don't show up for court, but that would be an FTA. Also, if the ticket goes unpaid (and not contested) the fine doubles because a warrant is issued for arrest.

I would not be paying a ticket for my 21 year old daughter. It is not your mother's responsibility. Either fight it, paying your own court costs, or pay it using YOUR OWN money.

I'm not your daughter, now am I?
I'm not stupid. I know the responsibility wouldn't fall on my parent's shoulders, but my mother is nice enough to want to pay it for me and let me pay her back if it comes to that. It doesn't cost anything to contest it except time and I have plenty of that.
And apparently you didn't read it. I HAVE NO MONEY. I HAVE NO INCOME. I'M BROKE. I HAVE NO JOB. I depend on my parents. In case you yell at me again and tell me to get one, I've been trying since August to get one. I wrote here to vent and whine and get some frustration out, not be chastised by someone who doesn't know my character and is probably pre-judging me just because I'm "21 years old and everyone is a reckless driver at that age".
Yes, I did say my mother would have to pay it, but you can't assume I would just let her by a couple little paragraphs. It burns me up you come in here all high and mighty like that and makes me very relieved I have no relation to you.

off the wall question..why don't you have a job at 21?? At your age, you should be paying car insurance, car payment and all your own expenses...even rent if you are living with your parents..I think this is what the poster was trying to ask. Even if you are in college, you still need to be working to cover some expenses
