    Angry Homeowners Insurance

I know this may be a personal question.
But, I was just wondering what you have to pay annually for your home owners insurance. We just got our bill for this year 2005 and I nearly flipped. It is nearly $600.00. I have NEVER even had a claim in all the years we've owned this house! We also have our truck insured with the same company.
Keep in mind this isn't a mansion either. It is a simple Cape on a quarter acre lot.

My insurance is about $500 (it's in the mortgage payment so I haven't gotten the exact figure) but I know that it went up last year and it probably will again this year. We are paying for the houses that were destroyed in Florida. And if you live in Florida, I don't even want to think about what it is going to cost you. Just what I read today about all of the surcharges will make your hair stand on end!!

We pay alot in property taxes too. almost $4000 this year. being that this is our first house, we didnt realize that this was very high. we live in a tiny little town only about 650 people and nothing but a gas station, tiny post office and bank elementary school and some bars. Ive been told its high because of the school district. i'd sure like to know where all this money goes.

I rent, but my mother's insurance has increased in the last year because of the flooding we've had. Funny thing is there is no possible way she'd get flooded since she lives on a rather large hill and the end of the world would have to be coming if she flooded. Right now she pays about $475 on a split-entry 3 bedroom home. It's just a normal sized house and nothing overly special

good lord, it hardly seems worth it huh? when you morgage a house do you have to pay insurance on it like you would a car? dh and i are just going to buy a beater with cash and fix it up ourselves. we were thinking about not getting home insurance and instead putting that money in an account instead.

It more than likely is because of the school district. They get the lions share of your property tax dollar, at least they do here. And just give them time, they will come back to the voters wanting even more. While I believe in supporting your school district, I think they are going to have to come up with other ways to fund them. The property owners pockets are not bottomless.

homeowner insurance not only covers the house(not at sale cost but what it would cost to rebuild) but the contents in it as well. Also liability coverage, if anyone would to get hurt on your property they would help pay medical exspenses as well.

i don't think that it's fair that people who don't have children who go to school should have to pay taxes for school. like me, part of my taxes goes to schools. i homeschool and we don't get any kind of tax breaks for our supplies that we have to buy either.
