Re: Homeowners Insurance
We have a fire hydrant right in the front corner of our front yard and live less than a block from the fire station lol but you know i was thinking about it and we pay almost $600 a year to replace the house and everything and we pay $1320 a year for full coverage on our 2 cars !!! so i guess the house insurance is a better deal lol we are even accident free for 7 years and the cars are 98's so arent worth much anymore either. Now if they would just lower our property taxes lol

Re: Homeowners Insurance
I have full replacement value as well. I couldn't begin to rebuild if I didn't have at least that much. And it covers all of the trees on the property as well. I went through my home owners policy and I couldn't find anything that it didn't cover.

WOW! Those dang insurance companys really got us don't they.
Your all right though we need the insurance just in case!
Our house taxes went WAY up this year too
It won't be long before were priced out of this house.

Thanks again for all your information. I don't feel so bad now. At least I know it's not just our insurance company rippin' us off.

Re: Homeowners Insurance
dlwt, I'm in WA too and after owning my house for 8 years, I switched 3 insurance companies because of rudicilous increase in premiums. The last bill I got from Hartford in 2003 was over $1100 I switched to Allstate and it was $498 -- less than half for same coverage. It increased so far on $15 in one year.

But, I was just wondering what you have to pay annually for your home owners insurance. We just got our bill for this year 2005 and I nearly flipped. It is nearly $600.00. I have NEVER even had a claim in all the years we've owned this house! We also have our truck insured with the same company.
Keep in mind this isn't a mansion either. It is a simple Cape on a quarter acre lot.

I wrote a check last month for $750.00. We have a 3/2/2. Last year (2004) payment was $650.00. So they went up for 2005. I guess (for me) it's welcome to owning a home. We're in Houston as well. It's the cheapest rate I could find when we had our house built in 2002.
