Halloween (for all)
If you celebrate Halloween....how do you celebrate?
This question is not only to find out how Christians celebrate, but also other religions. So everyone please speak up!

Re: Halloween (for all)
I celebrate both Halloween and Samhain. I take my son trick or treating and then I celebrate the new year. I usually do a small ritual.

Re: Halloween (for all)
I just dress up the kids and then myself. Hopefully, my fiancee will be able to get off work early to trick or treat with us. I see it simply as fun for the kids. It has no religious meaning to me at all. And I get to act like a kid

I don't understand why churches offer an alternitive to trick or treating if they don't even believe in celebrating halloween. Why not just ignore it?

Re: Halloween (for all)
All Halloween is is an excuse to dress up like a kid and to have fun and maybe get scared.
And the kids have fun looking at the decorated houses and get candy.
I don't think I will burn in eternal hellfire for dressing up like a pirate or something and taking the kids out to get hopped up on sugar. I think it is just fun.
THIS IS MY PERSONAL FEELING, PLEASE DO NOT BASH ME FOR IT. YOU CAN HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION AND I AM JUST FINE WITH THAT.
Anyways, it's nothing spiritual, or religious, or anti-religious for me. It's just a day to have fun and maybe watch scary movies.

Re: Halloween (for all)
I had a neat Halloween last year. We went on vacation and on Halloween we were in a small city. Well we went to church for All Saints Day and on the way back to our motel we drove through the side streets. Only way we could get back, sure glad it was.
All the little kiddies were dressed up in costumes and the neighbors were OUT, YES OUT with them and everyone greeting one another. The homes were open and you could see inside. Everyone having a grand old time and being neighborly. It felt like I was in the movie "It's a Good Life". Old timey with the old values of trusting everyone and helping others.
Makes you nostalgic for that life. Guess some little towns still have it on certain nights of the year. Their Halloween was like Christmas. I loved it. Just watching them.

As Christians we decided many years ago to not celebrate Halloween.

it's funny how we teach our kids not to take candy from strangers, then we take them to strangers houses to get candy hmmmm?
