Thread: Sometimes I feel so alone

My DH works 6 and sometimes 7 days a week. He leaves here at 6:30 and doesn't get home until 5pm but if he works over he doesn't get home until 9pm. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy he has a job and is back to work but I feel like we don't have much of a relationship anymore. All he does is work and sleep and I'm here at home 24/7. We never have days to where we have someone babysit for a few hours so we can get out enjoy ourselves because we don't know anyone here.

I don't have any friends or family here what so ever. NONE. I talk to one of my friends (DH's cousin) on the phone almost daily but she's one of those that never has time to listen to me vent and whine but I should always be here to listen to her. Everyone else is my family is always too busy or talk or is never home so I feel like I have no one.

I want a friend that I can go shopping with or just go to their house for a visit or anything. Just someone to be there and be my friend. I feel so alone.

I can't drive so me taking the kids to the park for a fun day out or anything like that is out of the question.

I feel like I'm invisible or something and that no one cares.

Sometimes I even think.. Why am I here? I never see DH much, we NEVER have any time for ourselves just to go out to dinner or anything like that. We never spend any time together anymore. Does he just want me here as a maid and chef?

Are these signs of depression? Is this what depressed is? I have no clue.

Ugh, thanks for reading (if you made it this far). I just feel so down in the dumps today but hopefully the feeling will pass soon.

Wish you were closer, we would get my niece to babysit, and go window shopping, and out to lunch.

{{{{hugs}}}} I understand how you're feeling. My ex was a truck driver and that's how I started to feel. Felt like I was only there for cleaning and cooking. Have you thought about getting involved in some type of volunteer group, support group, etc as a way of meeting folks? Sounds like you need to meet some friends to hang out with, but it also sounds like to should talk to DH as well, maybe try to set up a "date night" with him. Anyway, I've been there-done that, so if you want to, PM me and I'll send you my email. By the way, I'm in Ohio too, maybe we're neighbors.

big hugs to ya hun. I know how u feel. Since DH has gone back to work after being off from his pnumonia he has been working 7 nights a week (third shift) and been pulling atleast 2-3 12 hr shifts a week. He works an hour away (almost to Michigan) so he leaves at 10 pm gets home at 8:30 the next morning unless he works late then he's home around noon. On the days he gets home at 8:30 he eats, plays a few video games and is in bed by noon. Then doesnt get up until 9 and leaves again at 10 , etc etc you get what Im saying...


He doesnt get weekends off. His 2 days off are thurs night n fri night but like I said... he's working 7 days a week for a while until they hire some new ppl in the maintenance dept.

so the feeling of being the maid, chef, babysitter... Im right here with ya hun.

My extent of "getting out" is taking the kids to their ball games, going to the store, etc. If you ever wanna chat... give me a pm or email hun [email protected]

Why dont you work and then it would ighten the load on him you could see him more?

Take care`! Are there playgroups at the park district or church near you that you can join? Most are free....

I'm not sure about the playgroups but I'm going to ask around and see what I can find. If they have some in the evenings that would be great. Thanks, I never even thought of that.
