Serious question here
OK most everyone here knows how I feel about anyone involed as a driver being charged with DUI or DWI. This is hard for me to ask but when somone is 20 and they are charged with Felony DUI should the person or place where that 20 year old got the alcohol also face charges? This person never had even a parking ticket before. And I am not defending this person. I am just curious as to other opinions.

Yes they should they are over 18 and therfore an adult and if they are adult enough to drink then they should have to face the music

Yes the place that sold or gave the minor alcohol should be punished also. It's called contributing to the deliquency of a minor. HTH

Same goes for being at a party.....anyone over 21 at that party and a minor is there drinking can be charged with contributing to the delinquincy of a minor. Anyone that sells it should be held accountable too...if they were doing their job right the underage person would never of bought it there in the first place.

I am asking mostly because an offline agency want us to both go together after he gets out of prison and talk to minors under 21 about different aspects of being involved with DUI. Both he and I were both under 21 when we were affected. Me being hit and having lost a child. And him being the driver in a different wreck. And no he wasn't the driver in my case.

If it stops just one person ......then it would be worth it.....Most kids it just goes in one ear and out the other one.......sad to say.

That's what we are hoping. That maybe if they hear both sides and how it affects everyone that if it stops at least one person from going through what we have it will be worth it. This won't happen until at least the end of this year. Maybe next year.

AKA The Bad Kitty
H@LL YES!!! They should should be charged with selling alcohol to ANYONE involved in a DUI accident. My aunt successfully sued a bar for serving someone beyond their limit. The guy got drunk, jumped in his car and passed out. Unfortunately when he passed out his foot slammed down on the gas and hit our car head on. Before someone asks...my uncle could not swerve to avoid him since he had no where to go and no time. The result? My cousin had a concussion, my aunt had a concussion and broken leg (to this day she has the rods in her leg and her leg is 2 inches shorter than the other); I ended up with a severe fractured pelvis (which in turn messed up the CMT that I have); my uncle on the other hand had his arm severed from the elbow down. The steering wheel lodged into his chest (they had to cut part of the steering wheel off just to get him out of the car) AND he DIED on the way to the hospital. This happened when I was 12 years old and since I'm the only one that remembers what happened, I have to live with this everyday. Am I bitter?? Hell yes I am!!! This monster apparently never did learn his lesson. The accident that took my uncle's life was his 9 DUI and his 6th DUI accident.

They should be charged with giving it to them even if they didn't get a DUI. If they pull over a minor and can find out where they got the alcohol, they should charge that person for whatever they charge those people with. It'd probably be hard to find out though, unless the person who gave it to them confesses.
