We never had to pay for pads-you just had to go to the counselors office and ask for one

In my sewing class we had to buy the fabric/pins/pin cushion/patterns, etc. We had to sew a skirt/shirt/dress (for girls), guys could choose pants/shorts/jacket and pillows in the shap of out first initial.

When I was in school, if you forgot your pad/tampon you were sol unless you had money for the machine in the girls room.

We never did anything like that. When we got to class, the teacher had already bought ALL ingredients for whatever we were makign that day. Each group usually made the same thing..we only made a differnt item at the end of the year..we each had to pick a diffent pie to make. The day after choosing the pies, the teacher would have the ingredients, and recipies ready for us.

This will just prove that I'm an old geezer-ett surrounded by meezers (the Attack Cats!)....when I was in school the only things we had to pay for was band camp and if the band went on a MAJOR trip (like to Disney World). But for the major trips we had fundraisers to help off set the cost. Man, am I THAT old?!?!

What I want to know is WHERE is all this money from those Mystical Magical Lotteries that have been implemented in nearly every state. I thought THAT was the cure-all for lack of educational funds. Hmmmm......

In our school here the kids have to pay for everything. It seems like every day my son is telling me he needs money for this or that. We're going to Texas the end of April for band and it cost over $400 just for my son! They even raised money for the trip and still needed that much! The schools here in Arkansas are all in a bind. They have been fighting for over a year to consolidate some of the schools that don't have many students. Lucky ours school is not getting axed. It's really sad that they are having to consolidate because of lack of money. If they would spend the money for the right things they wouldn't have to do this. Our school seems to think that sports is more important than anything. When it comes to the band we have to raise all the money needed and when one of the sports needs money they always seem to find it for them! It just irks me the way things are going on in the schools today.
