Thread: I can't beleive this is happening...

I just have to get this out somewhere, so this is a combination vent and big fat whine. I seem to have this big black cloud that hangs over me and anyone brave enough to be near me. This is kinda long, but here's the short version: Hubby and I wanted to open a commercial greenhouse. We are both hard workers and good people. We ate a lot of mac-n-cheese and saved a chunk of money. Hubbys health had reached the point where he needed to give up the job he'd had for 15 yrs and take the plunge. In August he quit his job and we started the search for a contrator. Finally found one in November who swore he could have it ready for the Feb 1st planting. Well, now he says he can't work if it's below 20 (in Ohio)so the thing is only half done and we are gonna miss the spring plant, therby losing about $25,000.00. On top of that, my hours at work got cut so much that I make less than the staff I supervise. We have had to use some of the business money to survive and we're still not making it. We can't get a loan because hubby is now considered self employed with no income and my income is much less than our bills. If I can't figure something out we are going to lose everything- our home, the business (along with our life savings). Hubby is now walking with crutches, so another job is out of the question for him. I am so depressed and don't know where to turn. The greenhouse would be very successful if we could get it open. We have no competition within 40 miles and have already had people calling and wanting things for spring. My heart is breaking...Thanks for listening.

Hun I am touched that you offered comfort to me when you seem to be having problems of your own, hugs, thank you so very much. **HUGS** That really sounds like a breach of contract, I mean if he hasnt completed his end of the deal by an agreed time, that just doesnt make sense to me. I hope that greenhouse gets finished soon!

Do you have a copy of your contract? Does it say anything about the 20 degree thing? Does it have a 'finished by' date on it? Lots of lawyers do free consultations, have your husband visit one to get the contract looked over. If he's breached it perhaps you can get enough money to survive out of it until you can get the business up and running.

I totally agree, find out what options you can use against this contractor and don't let him do this to you. I hope everything works out for you. Prayers headed your way

Oh my gosh! That is awful! I will be thinking of you. It sounds like things will be great if the greenhouse will get finished. Can you hold out until then? If there's anything I can do, let me know. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I hope hope hope that greenhouse gets going!

Hoping for temps above 20 and it's finished real quick for you

Time to make a temporary greenhouse in your house and start planting in the living room or any other space that you have. Put some plastic down in the bedrooms and start planting. Get some indoor plant lights and get it going. You have no control over what is happening at the greenhouse but you can do other things so that you aren't completely out of business in April.

Do what you can to get going.

Can you start the plants with in your house and or garage?? Maybe fix your basement up to work on them. I wish I lived closer I would come over and help. I love gardening!!
