Thumbs down Dieting...i Can't Take It Anymore!

I am sooooo disgusted! I have been fighting weight all my life, but in the past few years I have really packed on the pounds. I have done every diet in the book, but none have ever really worked. Two weeks ago I started the South Beach diet and thought it sounded like something I could easily do. It started out great, no problems eating the correct food and such and the first week I lost 9 and 1/2 pounds. Now this second week I am starting to get really sick of this food, but thinking only this last week to go then I can have some real food again(first 2 weeks are induction).I fight my way through all the cravings I am having and stick to this diet like it means life or death and then get on the scales and.....I DID NOT LOSE ONE STINKING POUND THIS WEEK! Not even half a pound! GRRRRRRR! Why did God have to make me FAT!?
Now I am disgusted with myself cuz I just lost it and ate some M&M's (about 1/4 a bag) and 2 chocolate pop tarts. Why did I do that? All that hard work and then I blow it! UGH! I know it is only one little fall of the wagon and I can climb back on tomorrow, but I am just really angry with myself and this damn diet!
Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Oh I am so sorry, I do know how you feel. I have always been the same way. I started Atkins 4 days ago and have lost 10 lbs, I have been so pumped up about it I feel I can do this forever but if the same thing happens to me I would react the same way. Hang in there sweetie, I KNOW how hard this is. (((((hugs))))))

It was probably all water weight that you lost in the first week...Now at you're at a plateau. If you want to lose weight, you're gonna have to stick with it!

    Are you exercising as well?

    Good luck!

I'm on Atkins too I don't get off induction for a couple of more days so believe me I know how you feel I listed a website that has all kinds of recipes on it ncluding desserts that you make and can eat on Atkins if you can't find it and want it pm me. I don't have a scale and don't plan to get one due to the fact that from previous diets I know everyones body does this, you hang in there you can do this and though its hard its well worth it when you get to near your goal weight, I lost a 114 lbs. a few years ago on a 1000-1200 cal. diet and managed to keep it off for about three months but when I totally gave into all my cravings of course I gained most of it back and now I am trying the Atkins it is tough but so was the 1000-1200. I think once we get past induction and with all the recipes and low carb food coming out it will get easier. BTW you can have Diet-Rite soft drinks even on induction, just in case you did not know.
Ignorance is bliss but the question is can we afford it?

    Heres my 2 cents:

I would buy some of those starch blockers for those times you really need candy or something! When you do go and grab snacks or sweets just tell yourself that its ok that your craving it but limit yourself. As your eating your junk food say to yourself I really dont need this. Think positive. You can do anything you put your mind to!!!

Sorry you are having such a hard time with dieting..

I have dieted before..right after I had my second son..What I have learned is with each and every diet you do , JUST dieting will do nothing for you..you have to exercise..you must do cardiovascular, and you must excercise at least 3 days a week.

I am not on a diet right now, but when I did..I lost a lot of weight by just cutting parts of my food intake...I have NEVER done a specific diet...when we went to burgerking /mcdonald's for lunch I would have a large sald instead of a burger/chicken sandwich, but if I craved a burger I would have one, I would just make sure there was no mayo or cheese on it....any food is healthy for you, as long as you don't eat too much of it...

Now that I eat helthier (more vegetables/fruits, less sugary foods, and soda (get flavored carb. water/fruit juice), I am at a good size, but I have to exercise at least every other day to keep it (crunches/sit ups/I also walk over 35 min. daily)...

I agree..I once saw a Dr. on tv who said that when you have a craving give in to it...say you are craving choc. eat 1 or 2 hersheys kisses/small candy bar, becuase the longer you ry to put off your craving the more you will crave, and it will take more of that item to calm your craving, so instead of 2 hershey's kisses, or a candy bar , at the end of the night, you might have a craving large enough to finish a choc. cake..he also said that cravings are your bodies way of letting you know that there is something in that food you need/or are lacking....

Also if I am feeling hungry but just don't want to eat..a few things I have tried that work are chewign a stick of gum/suck on a tooties pop/sugar free hard candies/small jolly ranchers..also I have found if you are hungry have a glass of water..fills you up. and no calories.

Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it. I am exercising...Sweatin' To The Oldies, 4 times a week. I have to be very careful as to what I do for exercise because of my back. This work out is low impact and no bending or weird twisting.

I am back on the diet this morning, feeling better, and will just add one more day to induction to make up for yesterday.

I did buy the Diet-Rite cola...the tangerine is REALLY good!

Yeah, it sounds like maybe Atkin's might be the diet for you? I know locally everyone one is doing this, and as you know Burger King, Hardees/Carl Jr's/Subway are trying to be Atkin's friendly. My MIL has lost 14 lbs and she is just cutting out sugar and bread, potatoes (Carbs). I myself lost about 40 lbs a 1 year ago and I've leveled out, but I've also been a bad girl and had sugar and Carbs. I'm back to drinking mainly water and juices, more chicken and fish, less carbs. so maybe I'll lose some more. If you need support, just PM me.

Just plan on sticking to it for a month. All diet's work, but it's the long term "keep it off" that is hard. Sticking to it is the key. IMO, the first month is always the hardest. If your goal is just sticking to it for a month, you won't get as discouraged. Say if you haven't lost a good amount in a month then you'll try something else. Most likely if you stick to it for a month, it will be easier for you AND you'll lose weight, so you will want to stick with it longer. Take it a month at a time instead of thinking about the total time you'll have to be on it.

And remember that there are a LOT of things tha contribute to weight, not just fat. You might have lost more fat than you thought but gained muscle.

JOnette, I know how you feel hon. I have battled my weight all my life also. I have been on the Atkins program now for 5 days and last night was my worst night! We went to a Installation Dinner for my husbands Union and I am a major Bread and potato junkie...well what do you know the waiter puts a HUGE basket of fresh baked bread in front of me at the table. The smell hits me and I wanted to die!! I get past the bread and pulling the croutons off my plate when I get to the salad...then THE MAIN COURSE!! I ordered Prime Rib with Veggies....and there on the left corner of my plate is THE HUGE BAKED POTATO!! OMG! I tried not to look at it to much or smell it and shoved it into my empty unused bread dish! I made it though! I know it is so hard, especially when you have a hard time with your weight..I was raised on Potatoes, okie gravy, and lots of biscuits and bread. This is going to be one of the hardest things I do...but I know if we all just keep assuring each other maybey we can stay strong..You need to talk please let me know! You can do it...
