    Who killed Jesus?

My impression is that the Romans were responsible for His death, but I know not everyone agrees with this. -- P.N.
    Dear P.N.:

My answer may surprise you, because the truth is that you and I were responsible for Jesus' death -- and so was every human being who has ever lived, or ever will live. Let me explain.

You see, Jesus Christ came from Heaven for one reason: to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. You and I are separated from God because we have sinned and gone our own way. As the Bible says, "your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you" (Isaiah 59:2). But God sent His Son into the world to erase the barrier between us, and to bridge the gap that separates us from Himself.

The only way Jesus could do this was by dying on the cross in our place. If we had never sinned, Jesus would not have had to die. But we have sinned, and that is why Jesus went to the cross. Who sent Him there? You did, and so did I, because of our sins.

Yes, many in Jesus' time supported Pilate's death sentence (although others didn't). But Jesus said, "No one takes it (my life) from me, but I lay it down of my own accord ... This command I received from my Father" (John 10:18). This is how much God loves you! If our salvation could have been won in any other way, God would not have allowed His Son to die on the cross. But it couldn't, because our sin is too great. Have you responded to God's love by giving your life to Christ?

You're welcome Chelle. I think the movie, "The Passion of Jesus" will tell us that as well. If Jesus didn't chose to go to the cross for all of us He could have stopped it any time He wanted. He died to save each of us and each of us sinned against Him up to and including the present day.

wonderful post, with a great perspective.
JOHN15:16-17 16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17This is my command: Love each other. JESUS LOVES YOU
