As far as I know only stating religous reasons is legal, but only for some of the immunizations needed. I live in Michigan, so it may be different for Ohio. I am just curious, which ones are you against, and why? I know there are lots of scary side effects and dangerous permanent reactions to some of them. My kids have had them all with no problems what so ever, but I am not saying I was not a little more than nervous about some of them, and all the papers I had to sign scared the crappola outa me to say the least!

You need to look up your state education laws and see what you have to do to get an exemption or if you even have to.

OH Ladybreaker, how awful. We just went thru testing for our son, and he was found to have sensory integration problems, not autism, thank God. I feel for you. I also believe that the mercury in the vaccines causes autism. I hope you are suing.
Another note, I have heard they pulled that mercury out of the vaccines.

My child too, has moderate autism, developmental disabilities, and SID, all caused from the MMR shot(at least believed to be)
(((hugs to all)))

On another note, there are autistic children who have never had the vaccines. It is just that the medical field is able to diagnose Austism and the such at the time these children are receiving their vaccinations. A lot of the age correlation plays a big part in this.

Sorry but I think that children who are not immunized should not be given the opportunity to spread communicable diseases by going to school with kids that have. I understand that there are risks and I do have empathy for ladybreaker and faithfully, however the benefits far outweigh the risks and these are isolated cases. Faithfully even said her child's condition is BELIEVED to be from immunizations. If it were not for immunizations the mortality rate for children would be through the roof. I am just not willing to take that kind of risk with my child's life. I would rather they have a fever and be cranky for a day or so than be crippled with polio or die from scarlet fever.
Some mornings it's not worth the effort of chewing through the restraints.

Just read an article on this not 30 min ago in Family Circle. If your child is not immunized then they can harbor diseases that could affect other people. WHY would you risk other people because of something that is totally unfounded? .There is NO established connection between autism and the MMR at all. Just because a some people think there is, is not definitive proof enough to risk your childs as well as other peoples lives. What if your child contracts something and then exposes an infant who has not yet had all of their shots and they contract it and get sick? It is NOT worth it.
There are risks with every single drug we take..
Birth Control may increase your chance of cancer or stroke, the medicine my husband is on could cause Parkinsons like symptoms, permanent seizures or tremors. There are risks in this world, as a parent it is your job to outweight the good and bad. NOT outweigh them in your childs favor only. Can you imagine what is going to happen if your child grows up and decides to go to another country where the diseases are much worse and gets sick. Who do you think he/she is going to blame? Polio is eliminated from the US but as this article said it is not gone in other countries.
There is no way in he** I would ever risk my child, and that is exactly what you are doing or anyone else for that matter becuse of some assumption that has not yet been proven.

Go to a school board meeting at the school. They'll be able to tell you what needs done, and maybe they can sign something saying your kids can attend the school w/o their shots.

Alot of jobs nowdays REQUIRE you have mmr and other vacines.. and no wavers are allowed.. you don't have the shots, you don't get the job. Especially in the health profession.
