what would you do?
Hi all. Last night my step mom went to Target to return some shoes for me that I bought on 5/22 that were defective, but I live out of town and was unable to get them back sooner. They gave her a bunch of crap but finally gave her a refund for them. Then she went back awhile later to pick up a few onesies, gowns and a monitor. I'm due 7/8. She got back here all Excited to show me, and all she had was the monitor and 3 candy bars. The kid did not give her all the bags. So she hurried and went back, to get the other bag and they did not have it and they treated her horribley saying how did they now she didn't take the 8 onesies and 2 gowns home and are just trying to get more. They said they would have to review their security tapes to see if shes lying or not. but they couldn't do it last night because they were getting ready to close. I haven't gotten to talk to her yet tonight so I don't now if they called her or not.
I'm just very frustrated with them for treating her so badly as we all spend money in there. I registered there for my baby shower and everything! and that someone went home with a free bag of baby clothes that I needed as I don't have a whole lot..It would help if that person would bring the bag back to the store but these days that'll never happen
. Anyway thank you for any advice and for letting me vent..

Call corporate and I bet you will get a call back from the district manager the same day and they will fix it for you!

I would do what gitty said and call corporate, I would also tell them that if this is the way they treat loyal customers that I would not be shopping there again, there are other places that would be more than happy to get your buisness!

I agree with Gitty. It's like customer service is going to the dogs these days.
They probably gave her merchandise to the customer that came behind her at that register.

Hi thank you for the advice. They called her today, and said they were sorry that it looks as if her bag was given to the customers behind her in line, and that she could come in and get replacements at her convience. I'm still unhappy with the way she was treated, and I might go ahead and write a letter. But at least the situation turned out okay and they did the right thing in the end. Thank you again..

Any store that would accuse me of stealing would have a law suit on their hands so fast it would make their heads spin. I would never enter that store again.

Please still call corperate.
They are only replacing the products that she already bought and they have no consequence for the way they acted. And the District Manager needs to know that the manager and employees are treating customers like crap, because they are making mistakes.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how this is treating a customer like crap. I know it's a inconveniences, but if the store doesn't follow procedures, then they would have every Tom, Dick & Harry coming in saying that same thing. I'm sure your mom is honest as the day is long. But there are allot of people that aren't. Just like the people who sign up for a freebie more than once so they can get multiplies. That is dishonest.
Best thing to do is be sure before you leave the register that all items have been placed back in your buggy. I always scan the counter before I leave to be sure I have all my stuff because I have had this happen to me before as well.
It is the cashiers fault for being careless. And I think once they review the security tapes and see the customer is telling the truth they should have to bring the sac to the customers house rather than making the customer drive back out to get it as a courtesy for the cashiers carelessness.
NEW ! => ISO LIST! please L@@K and see if you have something I need.

I agree totally. They can't just go one the customes word that they left something there. They were right to tell her that, if she could not prove that she did not recieve the itmes she purchased, that they would need to check security tapes, to make sure, that they were not gettign ripped off. I am sorry your mom was inconvienienced, but it is partly the cshiers fault and partly your mom's IMO. Yes the cashier should have paid more attention, but so should your mom. I usually at a grocery store pick my own bags up off of the counter, and at Walmart too. The store I go to usualy don't hand the bags to the customers. They bag them, and then we pick them up ourselves (meaning hubby and I).
I agree as well. It was a bad situation, but they really do have to try and verify things like that, otherwise SOOOO many dishonest people would take advantage of them, which would translate into higher prices for us, and worse pay/benefits for their employees, which would only lead to more things like this happening due to disgruntled and undertrained employees.

Problem with security tapes is that the store is assuming the camera was on that particular register at the time. Most often the cameras are roaming and even assuming it was tuned into the register in question, how close was it zoomed in? The way the registers are set up, it would be very for a clerk to leave a bag in the holder and a customer leave without it.
