There is a pregnant woman missing
I saw something on tv last night about a black woman who disappeared the day before she was scheduled to give birth. It may have been in Memphis or North Mississippi. I am trying to find the article. Did anyone around my area see this. I want to get the word out cause it doesn't seem to be a well known thing.

I received this e-mail from WCBI
What you probably saw was a promo about a story out of Aliceville, Al that closely parallels the Laci Peterson story in California. The young lady from Alabama disappeared almost three years ago when she was nine months pregnant. There's been no trace of her since then. We'll be running a two-part series on the story this Monday and Tuesday night, so you haven't missed it.
Thanks for watching.

I will keep you all posted.

Pickens County Investigators Still Stumped By Missing Woman
7:39 a.m. CDT April 22, 2003 - While police in California believe they've solved Laci Peterson's murder, a similar case in Alabama remains unsolved.

Shelia Hughes, 29, disappeared the day she was due to give birth to her first child. NBC13's Chris Pollone reports that Aliceville police have run into a dead end in the investigation two and a half years after Hughes disappeared.
"At first I thought she was alive," said Shelia's mother, Ruthie Hughes, "but I can feel inside, I don't think she's alive now."
Shelia Hughes disappeared Sept. 1, 2000. Her boyfriend picked her up to talk that afternoon. He told police he dropped her off back home about 3 a.m. Sept. 2, but no one ever saw Shelia again.
The case shocked the small Pickens County town and has frustrated the police force.
"This is something I've never seen and we haven't seen it since," said Aliceville Police Chief Jeff Mordecai.
He said tips to investigators have died down in the past year. None has been as promising as a discovery a few weeks after Shelia disappeared, when her shoes and purse were found outside Macon, Miss.
"We walked wooded areas, we walked the fields, checked everything, the Police Department rolled four wheelers, and nothing turned up other than what had been found," Mordecai said.
Now, every witness has been interviewed, every lead checked, and prosecutors still can't build a case against anyone. They're hoping for that one piece of evidence that can jumpstart an investigation.
"It would be huge, and it would answer a lot of unanswered questions," Mordecai said. "At least that way we would have someplace to start."
The discovery of Laci Peterson gives the Hughes family some hope that one day, Shelia will be home. Her mother says every night she sits on her bed and prays that God will whisper to her or give her a vision of where Shelia is.
"This lady had been missing for four months, right, and Shelia's been missing for two and a half years," said Ruthie Hughes. "I said, 'Oh, Lord why can't she come up? Why can't she be found?'"
Anyone with information about Shelia Hughes' disappearance should call Aliceville police at 205-373-6631.
