'Big Bang Theory' cast angles for salary hikes, again
Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch become full-fledged cast members

With Emmy-nominated "The Big Bang Theory" about to launch its seventh season as America's no. 1 series, the cast is looking to cash in on the success. With Emmy-nominated "The Big Bang Theory" about to launch its seventh season as America's no. 1 series, the cast is looking to cash in on the success. Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have inked new deals that bump them from recurring status to regular cast members. Their costars, meanwhile, have banded together to renegotiate their contracts with Warner Bros. Television studios.

Funny guys Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj), meanwhile, are asking for something south of that.

Bialik's (Amy) and Rauch's (Bernadette) new deals bring an increasing paycheck, according to the story. This season, they will take home around $60,000 per episodes, doubling their former $20,000-$30,000 per episode salary. Their take-home will increase each season, until they reach $100,000 per episode.

"The Big Bang Theory" has been renewed through this season. The show is nominated for best comedy, Emmy-winner Parsons is once again up for best actor and guest star Bob Newhart has already nabbed an Emmy for his stint. In short, between the ratings domination and the Emmy love, there's a good chance "The Big Bang Theory" will continue to be renewed, as long as it can survives these unplanned renegotiations.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 7 premieres Thursday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
Encores episodes air in syndication on TBS

'Big Bang Theory' halts production amid contract negotiations

    July 30, 2014, 12:27 PM EST
    By Tim Kenneally

"The Big Bang Theory" has hit a stumbling block on its way to another season.

Production on the series, which was due to begin Wednesday, has been postponed as series stars including Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco continue to negotiate their contracts.

"Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on 'The Big Bang Theory' -- which was originally scheduled to begin today -- has been postponed," Warner Bros. Television said in a statement Wednesday.

The series, a ratings giant for the network, is scheduled to return to the air Sept. 22.

The comedy, co-created by Chuck Lorre, was nominated for a handful of Emmys this year, including Outstanding Comedy Series, as well as nominations for Parsons and supporting castmember Mayim Bialik

Lego to Debut 'The Big Bang Theory' Set
    The Hollywood Reporter
    By Andy Lewis

Even Sheldon would be pleased with this news.

Lego announced Friday that it will be releasing a Big Bang Theory set. It re-creates Sheldon and Leonard's living room and includes such geek-accurate items as a Rubik's Cube, a DNA strand, an itty bitty Lego Death Star and Leonard's board.

The proposal includes a trove of minifigures: Howard (complete with NES belt buckle), Penny, Rajeesh (with Cinnamon), Amy, Bernadette, and of course Sheldon and Leonard.

The final set may differ from the prototype. Pricing and availability were not announced but the set likely will be released sometime in the next 6-9 months.

The news came as part of Lego's announcement of its fall 2014 Ideas projects. With Ideas, Lego fans post their own models to the Lego Ideas website. Projects that get 10,000 supporters are guaranteed an official review by the company. Previous Ideas sets include the Back to the Future DeLorean and the Ghostbusters car.

This project was submitted by users Alatariel and GlenBricker. Two Doctor Who sets also made the 10,000-vote cut. The company said it was still studying the feasibility of producing them, and an announcement will come at a later date.

The Big Bang Theory, the hit CBS sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, is in its eighth season. It finished its 2013-14 season as the top-rated sitcom and second-rated show overall (behind only Sunday Night Football). The comedy has been renewed through its 10th season, in 2016-17.

Bazinga! LEGO 'Big Bang Theory' Set Coming in 2015
    November 7, 2014 3:31 p.m.

This morning The LEGO Group announced the next sets that their LEGO Ideas division will be producing. LEGO Ideas (formerly LEGO CUUSOO) is a crowdsourcing platform that has LEGO fans pitch ideas via their website. If a proposal gets 10,000 votes, it goes into a lengthy review process to see if LEGO actually wants to make it. Things have gotten the boot over licensing issues, over safety concerns, over pricing estimates--things like that.

Previous LEGO Ideas proposals are where we've gotten some of the geek-favorite LEGO sets of the last few years, including the first LEGO Minecraft sets, Ghostbusters' ECTO-1, The DeLorean Time Machine from "Back to the Future," the NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, Exo Suit, and Research Institute. These are insanely beautiful sets for the discriminating LEGO fan. I can't believe I just typed that.

    LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1

The latest review period just ended, and instead of just choosing one LEGO set to be produced, they chose two. The one that will get all the buzz (hell, I'm putting it into the title of this article) is "The Big Bang Theory." Details like exactly how the model will be designed, the characters included and the pricing are all still to be determined, but they're moving forward with it. These are the images that the designers submitted to LEGO Ideas to get the votes...so you can expect something along these lines to be released in 2015.

Personally, I'm lukewarm on it. I like the show okay, although I don't watch it on a regular basis. It's the number one sitcom in the country right now, and has been for a few years, so economically it makes sense to be made. It just doesn't seem to have much value or play value as a LEGO set. Not a whole lot to swoosh. Still, having minifigure versions of favorite characters and their apartment is kinda cool. Would they have made this for "Seinfeld" or "Friends"? Probably not. There's enough crossover in the "Big Bang Theory" and LEGO and geek demographics, this should sell well.

The other project is the one that I think is more interesting--LEGO Birds. These are beautifully designed lifelike birds. The designer has over twenty birds built in different series -- British Birds, Tropical Birds and North American Birds. I'm not ordinarily into birds (I mean, who is?), but as a LEGO fan these are really extraordinary. I kind of like that they're more like sculptures than Minifigure-scaled sets, and although we don't know yet how many birds will be produced in a set or what the price point will be, I can see them including three birds in a set for $20.00, and if that sells, producing more down the road. They've done that with Minecraft, they may do it with others.

There are some other LEGO Ideas sets from this same review period still under consideration--there are two competing Doctor Who sets that have been under review for nearly a year now. I'm really hoping they get approved. There are some terrible Doctor Who minifigure-style toys out there, but having legit LEGO Doctors and companions and Daleks and Cybermen and Weeping Angels and Ood and...well, it'd be nice.

‘Big Bang Theory’ stars and execs fund scholarship for UCLA students
    By Whitney Friedlander
    ˇPublished May 29, 2015

Proving a good education is no laughing matter. CBS comedy “The Big Bang Theory” and series co-creator and exec producer Chuck Lorre’s family foundation have announced the establishment of the “The Big Bang Theory” Scholarship Endowment at UCLA.

The fund — the first-ever UCLA scholarship created by, and named for, a television series — will support undergraduate students in need of financial aid who are pursuing their higher education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at UCLA. It has raised over $4 million to date, thanks to an initial donation from the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation as well as gifts from the likes of series stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, executive producers Bill Prady and Steven Molaro, and partners such as Warner Bros. Television and CBS.

“We have all been given a gift with ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ a show that’s not only based in the scientific community, but also enthusiastically supported by that same community — this is our opportunity to give back,” said Lorre. “In that spirit, our ‘Big Bang’ family has made a meaningful contribution, and together, we’ll share in the support of these future scholars, scientists and leaders.”

“The Big Bang Theory” Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need to low-income students who have earned admission to UCLA based on academic merit but need additional support to bridge the gap between typical levels of financial aid and the cost of attendance. The inaugural group of 20 scholars will be announced in fall 2015 on the set of “The Big Bang Theory.” An additional five scholars will be added in each future academic year in perpetuity.

“At UCLA, we pride ourselves on providing opportunities for students from all economic backgrounds,” said UCLA Chancellor Gene Block. “UCLA attracts the very best students from around the world, and admission is very competitive. We are grateful for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Scholarship Endowment, whose contributors agree with us that economic standing should not hinder a deserving student’s shot at a degree from a university of UCLA’s caliber.”

UCLA and “The Big Bang Theory” share connections beyond the scholarship fund: Bialik earned a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the university, while UCLA professor of physics and astronomy David Saltzberg serves as the show’s science consultant.

Studio Warner Bros. TV recently partnered on a cinematography job training program in memory of Sarah Jones, the “Vampire Diaries” crew member who died while filming another project.
