    Scott Pilgrim Vs The World

I loved this movie. I haven't enjoyed a movie as much as this one in a long time with the many one-liners, cool soundtrack, video game references and solid action scenes. It probably shouldn't have been to big of a surprise since Edgar Wright's previous two movies, Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz were amazing as well. The DVD and Blu-ray come out on Tuesday. Did anyone else here catch this movie?

I've seen the first half but hubby saw it all and really enjoyed it.

It's definitely worth checking out the rest of the movie. I couldn't think of a funnier movie from 2010. It's going to look sweet on blu-ray too.

That's interesting. The reviews slammed it. And...I usually don't rely on reviews because sometimes I am just looking for an entertaining, silly movie. But I have several colleagues who said it was really bad...not a good adaptation at all.

I think it probably has a specific audience. I know from what I've seen it certainly won't appeal to everyone. Which can certainly get those bad reviews. I don't know how to word what I'm trying to say w/out sounding insulting (or atleast, would sound insulting to me... you know what momma said)... but I do think you have to like the style of this movie. I guess it's kind of like Pulp Fiction to me... you either love it or hate it... I'm in the hate it category.

I absolutely get what you are saying...and I'm not insulted a bit! I guess that's why I was relying on co-workers since I work in the 'industry'. As for Pulp Fiction...I'm glad I saw it...once...so I could see what all the hoopla was about. But, I didn't love it either.

I would compare it to "The Hangover". People were absolutely gaga over that movie. I might have smiled in a few parts and even chuckled once or twice...but found it to be soft porn and not to my taste at all. The only reason I even commented on this post was because this was the OP's first post and he didn't give much information about the movie. I think it definitely has an 'audience'. It wouldn't be something universally liked by everyone. On the other hand...I may be a fuddy-duddy ol' grandma, but I can like off-color, silly movies too. I laughed so hard at "There's Something about Mary" that I almost wet my pants!

As someone who has read the comics, I believe this was a good adaptation of the comic. The creator/writer/artist, Bryan Lee O'Malley was involved and oversaw the making of this movie. Edgar Wright directed and co-wrote the script, so it'll likely be enjoyable to those who liked his other movies. . Overall, I say it's a very fun movie with lots of great one-liners and some over-the-top, but still entertaining action scenes. It should appeal to a fairly big audience, but the few who don't get it will likely slam it unjustifiably.

I think it is just a matter of taste. I have enjoyed many 'comic' adaptations to film, e.g., Iron Man and Spiderman! Some of the Batman have been good and some abyssmal. And, the co-workers who didn't like typically do like these types of films. The comments ranged from "disjointed script" to "director relied too much on film trickery".

I never presume that everyone is going to like swhat I do nor do I bash those who don't. I accept that we all enjoy different things and I appreciate that our differences are what makes the word go around. Heck...I work for Disney. Not every animated film we have released is a Toy Story 3. As far as I'm concerned, you can keep Hercules, Bug's Life, The Emperer's New Clothes and Hunchback of Notre Dame...but my grandkids still love them!!
