That is a possibility, wasn't Michael also on the boat?
Does anyone else get the sneaky suspicion that the series finale will be everyone ending up back at the island?

Michael was down right next to the bombs when they went off so I think he is dead..of course being dead means nothing on this show. Jin was up on deck running towards the helicopter so hopefully he was just blown off out to sea and managed to get back to the island at least thats what Im going to tell myself happened. Can you tell I LOVED Jin???

Wellll, let's see, The Others already told Michael that some are allowed to leave the island - so to me, his leaving really isn't that big a surprize.
and as far as his death - well sayid's a hitman - but that scenario doesnt' make sense ....but how much time lapses between the movement of the island + the death.....although..on the other hand...Kate & everyone else felt NO connection to him to attend his funeral or viewing...so something may have happened..
So maybe ben had sayid kill him?
Or......anyone else got any ideas?

hard to say. I think he, like Ben, can get on and off the island at will.
Now since Jack seemed to be the most concerned maybe it was b/c Lock was trying to get them back on the island and Jack was worried that they would never get back w/ him dead.
how he died... I don't have any guesses. So many peopel wanted Ben dead and that now transfers to Lock now that he runs the island

Just 34 hours left for TV's "Lost"
By SANDY COHEN, AP Entertainment Writer
Fri Jul 25, 8:29 PM ET
SAN DIEGO - "Lost" fans can start expecting some answers.
Writer-producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof said Friday that they know exactly how the ABC series will end.
"We have 34 hours left for you guys to see — seasons five and six," Lindelof told the Comic-Con crowd. "We owe answers. We know the answers that we owe. The questions have to begin to diminish."
"We know where we're going and we know how long we have left to tell the story," Cuse added. "There's also an organic process that goes on."
They compared the process to a road trip, which can often include alternate routes and unexpected stops.
The showrunners said they will continue to supplement their storytelling with Webisodes, mobisodes (on mobile devices) and games.
"We're doing it primarily for the die-hard fans of the show," Lindelof said.
They offered no spoilers at Entertainment Weekly's panel dedicated to visionary TV producers. But they did reveal they'd like to see the return of Mr. Eko.
"Mr. Eko was a character we really loved," Cuse said of the role played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Turns out the British actor didn't like living and working on an island.
"Hawaii was not his bag," Cuse continued. "Real life intervened and forced us to end the arc of that character much sooner than we would have liked."
No word on whether Mr. Eko will come back when "Lost" returns this fall.
