Snyder suspends efforts to settle Syrian refugeesNovember 15, 2015

LANSING -- Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says he is suspending efforts to bring Syrian refugees to Michigan in light of the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday.

"Given the terrible situation in Paris, I've directed that we put on hold our efforts to accept new refugees until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security completes a full review of security clearances and procedures," Snyder said in a statement released by his office on Sunday.

"Michigan is a welcoming state and we are proud of our rich history of immigration," the statement said. "But our first priority is protecting the safety of our residents."

More than 120 people were killed in Paris on Friday night, and hundreds more injured, in a series of suicide bombings and attacks on nightspots using automatic weapons.

Multiple news agencies have reported that a Syrian passport found at the scene of one of the attacks matches a refugee who traveled through Greece.

Snyder said in September he was working with the federal government to determine the process for accepting refugees from the ongoing crisis in Syria and the Middle East.

"Isn't that part of being a good Michigander?" he asked at the time, while stressing that the refugees would have to be carefully screened to assure they were not security threats.

State Rep. Gary Glenn, R-Midland, issued a statement Saturday night calling on Snyder to "reverse his call to relocate Syrian refugees in the state."

"We should not rush to offer an open door to the high-risk importation of individuals from a known hotbed of Islamic extremism," Glenn said, disputing assertions that the refugees can be safely vetted.

Snyder decided to halt the refugee program on Saturday, after consultation with legislative leaders, prior to Glenn's statement, spokesman Dave Murray said.

It's true that earlier efforts to bring Syrian refugees to Michigan "were contingent on proper security vetting, which is an extensive process that takes up to a year or more," Murray said.

However, "in light of the terrible situation in Paris, Gov. Snyder has asked that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security complete a full review of those security procedures and clearances."

Asked if Syrian refugees who have been through the current vetting process and want to settle in Michigan should be prevented from doing so, Murray said he's not aware of any refugees who fit those criteria, but would check.

Alabama governor refuses to relocate Syrian refugees in state

    Published November 16, 2015

Alabama's governor said late Sunday that he would refuse to resettle any refugees from Syria in his state, amid reports that at least one of the Paris attackers slipped through Europe’s immigration system and concerns about “gaping holes” impacting America’s screening process.

In a statement, Gov. Robert Bentley said he reached his decision "[a]fter full consideration of this weekend's attacks of terror on innocent citizens in Paris ... I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm's way."

State officials said that no Syrian refugees have been relocated in Alabama to date, though some have been processed by neighboring states.

On Saturday, Louisiana governor and Republican presidential candidate Bobby Jindal raised concerns about Syrian refugees who have entered the U.S. in recent months, particularly those in his home state.

“Louisiana has been kept in the dark about those seeking refuge in the state," Jindal wrote in a letter to Obama. "It is irresponsible and severely disconcerting to place individuals, who may have ties to ISIS, in a state without the state's knowledge or involvement. … As governor of Louisiana, I demand information."

On Sunday, the State Department told New Orleans' WWL-TV that 14 Syrians had been resettled in that state.

White House Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes told “Fox News Sunday” that President Obama still plans to allow 10,000 Syrian refugees into the country within the next year and expressed confidence in the U.S. screening process.

“We had very robust vetting procedures for those refugees,” Rhodes said.

However, Rep. Mike McCaul, R-Texas, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, disagreed with Rhodes' assessment.

“I disagree,” he said. “I’ve been briefed by the FBI and Homeland Security. They tell me that this cannot be done.”

“We don’t have the databases,” he said.

McCaul went on to cite several problems with the administration's plan, including not having a comprehensive list of the estimated 5,000 or more foreign fighters around the world.

"Paris changes everything,” McCaul said. “There are a lot of holes -- gaping holes.”

In September, McCaul’s committee released a 66-page, bipartisan report -- titled “Combating Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel” -- that raised dozens of major concerns including “gaping security weaknesses” in overseas, Syrian-refugee programs, especially in Europe.

And earlier this year, FBI Director James Comey acknowledged intelligence “gaps” in trying to screen potential refugees.

McCaul said Sunday that one or perhaps two of the terrorists in the coordinated terror attack in and around Paris on Friday night appear to have come from Syria -- as part of the flood of Syrian refugees into Europe as a result of Syria’s years-long civil war.

The Islamic State terror group, which has flourished in war-torn Syria, has claimed responsibility for the attacks, in which at least 129 people were killed and dozens more injured.

GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson told “Fox News Sunday” that the United States is making a “huge mistake” in accepting the refugees and instead called for helping them to resettle in safer parts of their own region.

“But to bring them here under these circumstances is a suspension of intellect,” said Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon.

Fellow GOP challenger Sen. Marco Rubio suggested that even the concept of finding a foreign fighter amid Syrian refugees is impossible.

“The problem is not the background checks,” the Florida lawmaker said on ABC’s “This Week.” "There is no background check system in the world that allows us to find that out because who do you call in Syria to background check them?”

The administration reportedly also had planned before the Paris attacks to increase the number of Syrian refugees potentially coming into the United States by opening or re-opening screening centers in Iraq and Lebanon.

The U.S. now has nine such centers around the world, which are run by the State Department and staffed by Homeland Security Department workers.

everyone should call their governors and demand that they refuse these refugees since the fbi and dhs have stated they cannot vet them. then call all your members of congress and demand that all of our borders to be closed until the time that all of america is secure. we do not know who is crossing our borders. perhaps it is time that we only only people in with visas because right now anyone coming from europe can enter our country. we have no way to vet them, keep track of them. (tsa according to accounts have failed up to 95% of the time) As an american i do not want a repeat of what happened in paris, a repeat of the boston massacre, nor a repeat of 9/11!

NO TO VISA'S THEY ARE THE REASON for what happened in Paris, from a false Passport, turned out the only thing legal was the passport portion.

I've said that since day one, contact, fax, phone, email, and gave a link. Only one who has the balls to halt this is Trump, if you watched Fox n Friends Sunday morning edition.

Should add get rid of the new arrivals and send them back to Syria until vetted which should take FOUR YEARS.

Gov. Jindal issues executive order to prevent more Syrian refugees from entering Louisiana
    Posted: Nov 16, 2015 11:00 AM CST

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has issued an executive order to prevent more Syrian refugees from entering into Louisiana. The Governor tweeted about it Monday morning.

I just signed an Executive Order instructing state agencies to take all available steps to stop the relocation of Syrian refugees to LA.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has ordered state health officials in charge of Texas' refugee resettlement program not to accept any more Syrians following the Paris terrorist attacks.

In a letter Monday to President Barack Obama, Abbott also urged scrapping federal plans to accept more Syrian refugees into the country as a whole. He said the federal government can't perform "proper security checks" on Syrians.

Texas joins Alabama, where Gov. Robert Bentley announced Sunday that he would refuse Syrian refugees relocating to his state.

In Michigan, fellow Republican Gov. Rick Synder is postponing efforts to accept Syrian refugees until federal officials review security procedures.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he will "do everything humanly possible" to stop the federal government from putting any Syrian refugees in the state.

Louisiana State Police Colonel Mike Edmonson and Director of GOHSEP Kevin Davis are holding a news conference at 2 p.m. to discuss Gov. Jindal's executive order and Syrian refugees in Louisiana.

Governor Jindal Issues Executive Order to Prevent the Resettlement of Syrian Refugees in the State of Louisiana
Today, Governor Bobby Jindal issued an Executive Order to prevent the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the State of Louisiana.
    EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. BJ 2015 – 27
    __________________________________________________ _________
PROTECTING LOUISIANA AMID OBAMA ADMINISTRATION PLANS FOR RESETTLEMENT OF SYRIAN REFUGEES
    __________________________________________________ _________
WHEREAS, Article I, Section 1 of the Louisiana Constitution is titled “Origin and Purpose of Government”, and provides

“All government, of right, originates with the people, is founded on their will alone, and is instituted to protect the rights of the individual and for the good of the whole. Its only legitimate ends are to secure justice for all, preserve peace, protect the rights, and promote the happiness and general welfare of the people. The rights enumerated in this Article are inalienable by the state and shall be preserved inviolate by the state.”

    WHEREAS, Article IV, Section 5 the Louisiana Constitution establishes the governor as the chief executive officer of the State and during times of emergency or the threat of emergency, the governor has emergency powers to protect the citizens and property of the State of Louisiana;

    WHEREAS, when the threat of an emergency is foreseeable, it is prudent to implement common sense, precautionary measures to prevent the occurrence of the emergency and eliminate the need to trigger emergency legal authorities;

    WHEREAS, on Friday night, November 13, 2015, more than 120 people were killed and over 350 others wounded in a series of terrorist attacks in Paris, France;

    WHEREAS, these attacks were conducted by Islamic extremists, at least one of them a recent Syrian refugee, and the radical terrorist Islamic State (ISIS) soon claimed responsibility;

    WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana has been denied critical information by the federal government regarding Syrian refugees already relocated into this state, creating an untenable situation;
WHEREAS, it is foreseeable that the introduction of Syrian refugees into the United States without proper prior screening and follow-up monitoring could result in a threat to the citizens and property of this State.
NOW THEREFORE, I, BOBBY JINDAL, Governor of the State of Louisiana, by virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana, do hereby order and direct as follows:
SECTION 1: All departments, budget units, agencies, offices, entities, and officers of the executive branch of the State of Louisiana are authorized and directed to utilize all lawful means to prevent the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the State of Louisiana while this Order is in effect.

SECTION 2: The Louisiana State Police, upon receiving information of a Syrian refugee already relocated within the State of Louisiana, are authorized and directed to utilize all lawful means to monitor and avert threats within the State of Louisiana.

SECTION 3: All departments, budget units, agencies, offices, entities, and officers of the executive branch of the State of Louisiana are authorized and directed to cooperate in the implementation of the provisions of this Order.
SECTION 4: The Order is effective November 16, 2015 and shall remain in effect until amended, modified, terminated, or rescinded by the Governor, or terminated by operation of law.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand officially and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of Louisiana, at the Capitol, in the City of Baton Rouge, on this 16th day of November, 2015.

    Bobby Jindal _____
    GOVERNOR OF LOUISIANA
    ATTEST BY
    THE GOVERNOR

    Tom Schedler________
    SECRETARY OF STATE
U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) released the following statement on the resettlement of Syrian refugees in Louisiana:

“"The President has zero credibility when he claims Syrian refugees will be screened. He’s ignoring the genocide of Christians and other religious groups, and still refuses to say ‘radical Islam.’ Hours before the attacks in Paris he said ISIS is contained, minimizing the seriousness of the threat they pose. Top FBI officials said there’s no way to adequately screen all the Syrian refugees the Obama administration plans to accept into the U.S. Given these circumstances, I agree with Governor Jindal’s executive order halting President Obama’s plan."

Obama FURIOUS as FOUR States Now Defying Him on Syrian ‘Refugees’

By Brian Hayes on November 16, 2015

Three more states have joined Michigan in defying Obama’s insane importation of 200,000 so-called ‘Syrian Refugees’ in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

As Top Right News has reported, at least two of the Paris terrorists entered Greece posing as so-called “Syrian refugees” in September — and were able to make their way to France to prepare, arm and execute a massive terrorist attack just 90 days later. This, after a Syrian informant revealed over 4,000 ISIS fighters have already been smuggled into Western nations – “hidden among innocent refugees.”

Obama’s own DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson actually said “we don’t know a whole lot” about Syrian refugees coming into America, and that DHS has “no active protocol” for properly screening them. So yesterday, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder (R) announced that, to protect the safety of his citizens, he would BLOCK any future importation of Muslim “refugees” to his state.

And now, three more states — each with Republican governors — have joined him, ABC News reports:

Michigan, Alabama, Texas and Arkansas have become the first states in the country to refuse to take in Syrian refugees amid heightened security concerns following Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris.

Govs. Rick Snyder of Michigan, Robert Bentley of Alabama, Greg Abbott of Texas, and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas said in separate statements Sunday and today that their states would not be relocating refugees from the war-torn country until the U.S. Department of Homeland Security fully reviewed its screening procedures.

“I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm’s way,” Bentley said. “I will not place Alabamians at even the slightest, possible risk of an attack on our people. Please continue to join me in praying for those who have suffered loss and for those who will never allow freedom to fade at the hands of terrorists.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott wrote Obama directly: “Effective today, I am directing the Texas Health & Human Services Commission’s Refugee Resettlement Program to not participate in the resettlement of any Syrian refugees in the State of Texas. And I urge you, as President, to halt your plans to allow Syrians to be resettled anywhere in the United States.”
The White House is furious at the growing defiance of states, which they clearly did not expect, after the weak leadership in the GOP Congress failed to act against him:

“Xenophobia”?Seriously? Two of the Paris terrorists came in as Syrian refugees, and we are supposed to think its hateful or racist to want to keep them from attacking U.S. cities as well? Ridiculous.

Obama’s plan to import 200,000 of these Muslims — knowing full well that ISIS fighters may be among them — is insanity.

Syrian Refugee Already Missing In Baton Rouge Area
    Nov 16, 2015

At least one Syrian refugee that was in the process of resettling in the Baton Rouge area has already gone missing, according to a report by WBRZ.

Here’s what WBRZ posted to Facebook

As reported earlier by the Hayride, there are another 7 Syrian refugees in Kenner and 6 more in the New Orleans area.

within the first 30 to 90 days in settling and finding employment in the area.

After approximately 90 days, refugees are no longer eligible for the State Department-funded support that they were receiving through migrant and refugee services. However, they are able to join support programs through the Department of Health and Human Services.

Additionally, it is unclear how much the screening process for the 10,000 Syrian refugees costs American taxpayers. The State Department, though, has spent $1.1 billion resettling people from around the world in the country last year. That’s about $16,000 per person.

Despite claims that Catholic Charities is greatly involved in the refugee process, they are not. Catholic Charities merely helps migrants resettle. They are not responsible for tracking the individuals.

In the Louisiana gubernatorial race, the contrast between Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) and State Rep. John Bel Edwards (D-Amite) seem stark when it comes to Syrians being allowed in the state.

Vitter said that the migration of Syrians into the state must “stop immediately.” Meanwhile, Edwards originally stated via Facebook that he would work with the Obama administration to “accommodate” the refugees.

Edwards then back-tracked on the statement and said he would want the influx of refugees into the state paused until the vetting process is made more rigorous.

However, as the Hayride‘s special report revealed today, the State Department’s ‘screening process’ for refugees is not rigorous at all, nor can it be trusted to weed out potential Islamic terrorists.

Hence, this is why the Boston Bombers, Somali Muslim refugees who converted to jihad, a Rwandan genocide terrorist and the Portland Christmas Tree Bomber were all allowed into the country as “political refugees.”

FBI still maintains it has no means of vetting 10,000 Syrian refugees

ISIS said earlier this year they would send 500,000 Muslim terrorists under the guise of Refugees. FBI publicly said no way to screen them.

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters today that the United States is prepared to take in at least 10,000 Syrian refugees beginning with the next fiscal year. Put those terrorism threats to rest, America; Earnest added that all refugees would be “extensively screened.”
