Looking for advice in setting up my own forum (for college)

    Good morning everyone!

I've been a member of BBF for a long time now and I've really enjoyed my time here. I am currently starting a Masters in Library Science degree in January of 2010, but will be commuting and taking online classes as a distance student. The school doesn't have any really communication structure set up for it's online students though and after sending a note out to their listserve, I have been contacted by at least 20 other online students near me wanting to create our own little community and I expect more to follow once the word gets out.

I'd like to create a forum structure similar to BBF because I've been really impressed with the layout. I think it's visually appealing and easy to search/find posts. Of course this would not be in competition with BBF; this would be for posts only relating to Wayne State University and the Library Science field. Can anyone here, moderators or not, give me some advice about setting up some sort of forum like this one for my little group of online students? I'm pretty comfortable with technology, but know little about programming.

I would really appreciate any help or advice! I've mentioned this forum to some of the students as what I want mine to look like and they also have been enjoying reading through your posts and I believe some of them are joining too.

    Thanks!
    Kathleen

It's very easy to set up. Go to Vbulletin or Invision and you can get everything you need in 1 package, the forum software (they'll set it up for you) hosting etc.
