My "baby" is getting married
Sigh........My "baby" is getting married July 19. He texted me the happy news last night about 11:30. He said he hopes I can respect their decision and that he loves me.....yeah, I will deal and go on, that is all I can do, but still. He is NINETEEN......she is EIGHTEEN.......They have been dating for 5 or 6 months and he admitted to me the main reason they are getting married is because her dad just got remarried and the stepmom kicked my soon-to-be DIL out.... He has a good job, but has only had it for 6 weeks and she still has two years of high school left.....
However, he is still older than I was when I married his dad and almost as old as I was when he was born.
Guess I will have a new "daughter" soon, huh?

wow, that is young. I know kids get married that young, but I was so immature at that age. i know that kids got married that young in the past, but there is so many more options for them now than there used to be. 2 years of high school left? Sounds like she is 16, not 18. It will be hard for them, esp. if she gets preggars right away. Best of luck to them though.

Congrats! I wish the best for them. I was 18 and my DH 19 when we got married and it will be 27 years this fall. People predicted we would only make it 6 months so you never can tell.

That is really young but sometimes it does work out. I hope it works out for them.

Well add another to your CHRISTmas shopping list...lol. At least they aren't getting married because she is preggo, so there is a good side eh? Hopefully it will work out and their marriage will last for many many years. Then you can look back and giggle and think, I was worried for nothing. Hugs.
The more you complain, the longer God makes you live.

Thanks for the nice words. I know they have as much of a chance of making it as anyone else who gets married, but still, he is my baaaaaaaaaaaaaabeeeeeeeeeee......ya know?

When her mother was alive, the children attended a backwoods church ran school. When her mother died and he remarried the first time, they moved closer to town and the kids were put in public schools. Apparently the church ran school relied more on religion than education since the 4 kids all tested a good bit lower than their peers/age/grade levels. So, she is two years behind.

Congrats to them I hope it all works out for them. The only thing that I would be concerned about is that the main reason he's getting married is because she got kicked out by the stepmom. If he had said they were madly in love, couldn't live without her and so forth I'd be feeling okay about it. I really hope that they have a wonderful life.

CAn you maybe talk them into just living together? Either way I hope it all works out. Best of luck to them!!!

It's a hard place to be in, because you want your son to be happy, yet you don't want him to make a mistake. But at the same time you don't want to alienate him by making him feel guilty about his choices.
I hope it all works out for everyone involved. And hey, at least it will give you a reason to go out and buy a new dress and some snazzy shoes.
Unstable, yet irresistable!
Dumbass....we all know one.
