computer problems
I need computer help.
I have ran ad-aware, spybot, avg and ewido and it catches all kinds of stuff, i'll list a few...
Downloader.tiny.nch
rootkit.agent.ef
downloader.agent.awf
hijacker.agent.jh
downloader.nurech.bh
trojan.kloan
trojan.qhost
prozy.small.osw
the list goes on. But.....nothing has worked, the computer closes pages on its own, shuts down and restarts on its own. I start it in safe mode with networking and i start to type something in the search bar and it closes out. I have been scanning the friggin computer for 3 days now and says it has fixed the problems but it acts up again so i scan it again and same thing...there were 47 trojan horse, hijacker...etc when I scanned it this morning.
I disconnected the eathernet cord from the comp and the damn thing went crazy pulled up over 50 pages in a matter of seconds by itself.
HELP
btw , the PC in question is my kids computer ....need I say more?
Thanks in advance

Re: computer problems
hmmm... try restarting in safe mode without the networking, then run your anti-virus program. my bf and I have to do that sometimes with those nasty little "hangers on"
Or...have you tried reformatting the hard drive? thats the easiest way to get rid of the nasties that I know of..
Real women don't have hot flashes, they have POWER SURGES!!

Re: computer problems
I don't think avg does a boot scan anymore i could not find where to turn it on on the new version. Go to trend micro and run house call and it will remove the viruses and if it can't compleately remove them it will tell you how. it's free.
Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.

Re: computer problems
ok the scan didnt work because.....the damn think keeps restarting itself at bootup....
but before it started doing this i was able to download avast and it scans at bootup ...its on its second scan, the first time it caught 10 viruses I have lost count now
I'm totaly lost. I have owned 5 computers and the one before this my brother screwed up and its sitting out in my garage in a box, it wont even boot. I fought my husband tooth and nail to get the one that is infected now for the kids for Christmas and then this happens, I will never hear the end of it from him If I cant fix it.
I have read and read and read about this stuff online the last 3 days and my brain hurts now.

Re: computer problems
If your computer has a system restore option, you may need to turn it off first, then restart in safe mode and run your scans since it stores files and folders in its restore points, it won't allow those files to be deleted. I had some stuff on mine and couldn't get them to delete and found some info online telling me to do this first and it worked like a charm. Just remember to turn it back on when everything has been removed and you restart in regular mode.

Re: computer problems
I have done that....it has not helped
I contacted geek squad , because I know of nobody else in my area that works on computers. They ran me through some stuff to check before I had them remotely help me, and that didnt help. I cannot keep IE up even in safemode w/ networking because everytime I go to type something in the search bar, it closes out, even if I do the ctrl+o. Thats gonna be like $200 down the damn drain...grrrrr

Re: computer problems
My computer guy works at our local Staples store and when we had a bunch of nasties on it he only charged me about 70 bucks to reformat the whole computer. I mean dump everything and put back windows so try calling around. who knows, maybe you'll come up with someone who can do that for cheap!! Good luck!

Re: computer problems
I just got off the phone w/ my SIL ....they had the same problem w/ one of their computers a few months back. She said to take it to Best Buy and they will do a system diagnostic and remove what they can and what they cant they will tell you what to do. She also recommended PC-cillan and spysweeper. I'll have to wait untill next weekend to take it to Best buy but i'm crossing my fingers that they can fix it with the diagnostic, because if we have to fork out money to fix it, my husband will totaly ban the kids from using the computer again..lol and i'll get the dreaded " I told you so " ...
