Did you renew your Directv contract to get the freebie??
Well I did....I see now how they are planning on paying for all those freebies they sent out. The price is going up starting next month! It looks like to me they shouldn't be able to up the price when you have already signed up for another year. Seems it should remain the same price for the whole year.
Anyway here are the new prices they will be charging us.....It doesn't sound like much...but what's to stop them from raising the price a few more times this year while they have us under contract.....

Re: Did you renew your Directv contract to get the freebie??
I didn't sign up for anything that was posted here, but I did get the DVR thing free, but had to agree to 2 more years. As soon as that 2 years are up, I am going back to Dish Network. They have much better customer service, and they do not charge you if you sign up for say HBO for a month then have it turned off, Direct TV charges me 5$ to do this. I like Dish Network much better.

I didn't sign up for the freebie, but I did get the notice that the rates were going up. My package is going up $3 per month.

Re: Did you renew your Directv contract to get the freebie??
Hmmm....Dish Network must have changed their ways then. We used to have DirecTV, then we switched to Dish Network. We difinitely were not happy with DT, but Dish had it's issues, too. We used to get charged for ANY change we made to our accounts. No, no, I take that back. As long as we were adding or moving to a service that was more expensive, they didn't charge us. But if I dropped something, or moved down to a lower package, they socked me with the $5 fee.
We switched to cable. At least with cable, we don't lose our signal every time the wind blows or it storms. Plus we don't have to sign any contracts, so we can cancel at any time we choose.
I know some people are in outlying areas where you have to choose a satellite provider. In that case, I would still go with Dish Network.

Re: Did you renew your Directv contract to get the freebie??
Dish Network DOES still charge the fee for downgrading to a lower price package....I just had to pay the servie fee, plus it is printed on teh back of the bills. I think my contract runs out in April, and I am NOT renewing it....directtv isn't any better, and neither is cable..they all go out when the wind blows around here...I feel like just putting up an antenna and getting what Ic an get...it is so expensive to watch reruns anyway...
freebies are like potato chips....you can't have just one!!

Out here our cable used to go out if we had a puff of wind that wouldn't move a feather
We've had both Dish and Direct. Both are about the same, with Dish's service being a bit better-Direct would go out if we had one rain drop and Dish if we had 5 lol.
