    War on women: S.C. AFL-CIO President violently smashing Nikki Haley effigy, no regrets;
Posted at 4:29 pm on May 22, 2012 by Twitchy Staff

The South Carolina AFL-CIO president is on video beating an effigy of Governor Nikki Haley with a bat. War on women, indeed, and it comes from the Left as always.

So, all you sweet #union supporters, do you approve of the SC AFL-CIO beating a pinata of the face of Governor

WTH MT @GOP12: AFL-CIO prez smashing Haley pinata -- keeps doing it once it's down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=giX6U...layer_embedded

Imagine Obama's face on a pinata being hit by a white Tea Party leader

Hey, it’s not like the AFL-CIO president used a crosshair or anything, right? Just a baseball bat to beat in the face of a Governor Haley effigy. If using a crosshair is an incitement to violence, what is encouraging actual violence against Governor Haley?

SC AFL-CIO president Donna DeWitt just confirmed to me she is woman in video, says she has no regrets: youtu.be/3DZq2jOscBU

    http://twitchy.com/2012/05/22/war-on...gy-no-regrets/

SC AFL-CIO president uses bat to repeatedly bash Haley effigy

ABC News sets the scene: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...-haley-pinata/

Donna Dewitt, the outgoing president of the South Carolina AFL-CIO, is seen in this video bashing a piņata of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s face while Dewitt and her colleagues were at a retreat in Columbia, S.C. Saturday afternoon.

“Well I will say, she looks like a tough old girl here,” Dewitt says as she gears up to swing at the piņata.

She repeatedly hits the piņata, which bears the phrase “Unions are not needed, wanted or welcome in South Carolina” below Haley’s face. In her State of the State address this year, Haley said, “We’ll make the unions understand full well that they are not needed, not wanted and not welcome in the state of South Carolina.” Dewitt whacks the piņata down and continues to wail away at it once it’s fallen. Onlookers cheer her on, urging her to continue hitting the piņata.

“Give her another whack. Whack her again,” a woman screams.

“Hit her again” another man says.

    Dewitt defended her actions:

Dewitt told ABC News she has no regrets about the incident and said there was “no ill intent” in what she was doing. Dewitt said her colleagues brought the pinata and were using it as a “memoir” of Haley’s words and actions towards unions in her time as governor.

“They made it and I would have played the game with them no matter it would have been pin the tail on the donkey with Nikki Haley’s face on it. I still would have played,” Dewitt told ABC News over the phone. ”There was no ill intent. We were certainly have a good time. I’m not mad or angry.”

“We’ve been the brunt of her comments now for two years and that’s what the whole thing was. She’s been whacking at us over the last two years,” Dewitt, who has been president of the South Carolina AFL-CIO for the past 16 years and will retire at the end of June, continued.

Do I think Dewitt was fantasizing about that REALLY being Gov. Haley she was beating down with that bat? No (and btw, if it were a man who had been doing the hitting, would NOW have stepped in? Nah.). Nevertheless, the imagery is disturbing – and dare I say a blatant violation of President Obama’s established New Tone Order where we’re all supposed to be civil to each other over tea and toast and not say or do anything that would make our fellow man feel compelled to go out and commit a violent act. Since the mainstream media happily went along with him in the aftermath of the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords by doing their level best not to use words or display actions that might “incite violence”, I’m sure they – along with liberal pundits and politicos – will be lined up to express their outrage and condemnation at the very thought that someone, especially a person in a position of power and influence like Dewitt, would symbolically bash the pinata head of her organization’s chief opposition – and a nationally known Governor at that.

The video has proved to be a big embarrassment for the national AFL-CIO, which reportedly wants the video taken offline. Not quite sure why the concern, considering much worse tactics displayed by the AFL-CIO in the past towards its political opposition. Maybe they’re just trying to clean up their act during a crucial election year. Unfortunately for Big Labor, their paper trail – nor their video trail – can be erased from history.

The left have a profound sense of entitlement and carte blanche in expressing hate and many feel their political opposition is evil and not worthy of decency and respect. They see a photo of Gov. Haley or any other conservative no differently than some may see a photo of Bin Laden. That is how warped their world view has become and it is mystifying to them when those outside their political bubble are shocked by it.

    ..

Notice she almost knocked her Pabst Blue Ribbon off the end of the picnic table with this uncouth stunt. It reminded me of the old Red Stegall song “Red Necks, White Socks, and Blue Ribbon Beer”.

Left can protest all it wants, but it can't use government to silence conservatives
By Curt Levey Published June 22, 2012

“There is a growing threat to political speech in America,” warned Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell in a speech in Washington, DC last week. “Sadly, a growing number of people on the left … appear to have concluded that they can’t win on the merits. So they’ve resorted to bullying and intimidation instead.”

McConnell focused on “an [Obama] administration that has shown an alarming willingness itself to use the powers of government to silence [conservative] groups.” I focus here on the other half of the threat, intimidation and harassment by private groups on the left.

Some people dismiss the threat from outside organizations as beyond the scope of the First Amendment, which applies to actions by government. Indeed, some unsavory intimidation tactics – such as shouting down speakers or strong-arming companies to drop their sponsorship of conservative broadcasters – actually enjoy First Amendment protection. However, the Constitution affords no protection to criminal acts, which the left is increasingly turning to to silence conservatives.

Most importantly from a constitutional perspective, groups on the left are increasingly enlisting the coercive power of government in their intimidation and harassment campaigns. When they do, they threaten the First Amendment’s guarantee that government shall not abridge the freedom of speech.

Sen. McConnell described one of the more blatant examples of such a public-private partnership in intimidation: “White House officials have long participated in a weekly conference call with a left-wing organization in Washington whose stated purpose is to … mount corporate intimidation campaigns aimed at driving [conservative media] voices clear out of the public square.”

McConnell made it clear elsewhere that he was talking about the left-wing group Media Matters and its “thuggish” tactics. This organization has also generated controversy through its anti-Semitic rants and its anti-Christian mission statement filed with the IRS.

Groups on the left are also turning to the judicial branch to harass conservative opponents. Using the techniques of “lawfare,” they file lawsuits which they’re sure to lose, but only after saddling their opponents with expensive, time-consuming litigation. Witness the New York-based Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG), which recently filed a federal lawsuit against Pastor Scott Lively, a well-known pro-family writer, on behalf of homosexual activists in Uganda. The charge: a "crime against humanity."

The mentality of lawfare practitioners is illustrated by a Media Matters internal memo suggesting the organization “look into contracting with a major law firm to study any available legal actions that can be taken against Fox News … I imagine this would be difficult but the right law firm is bound to find some legal ground.” In other words, Media Matters couldn’t identify anything that Fox did wrong but hoped the right lawyer could invent something.

Lawfare’s most persistent practitioner is probably Brett Kimberlin, founder of the radical Justice Through Music Project. He has targeted conservative bloggers like Andrew Breitbart, Patterico, Aaron Worthing, and Liberty Chick, in part, by filing over 100 harassment claims against them in various courts.

Kimberlin claims that blogging the truth about his criminal record – which includes 17 years in federal prison for a weeklong bombing spree – constitutes harassment because it results in angry emails from the blogger’s readers. When Kimberlin gets lucky and finds a naive judge, he not only forces the blogger to defend himself in court, but also gets a restraining order against further “harassment.”

In addition to the courts and White House, the left is turning to various agencies in the Obama administration for help in intimidating their opponents. Angered by the American Legislative Exchange Council’s support of "Stand Your Ground" laws, left-wing groups are coordinating a campaign against ALEC, which includes an IRS complaint challenging its tax-exempt status.

These groups have every reason to expect the IRS will give the complaint high priority. After all, as Sen. McConnell noted, “dozens of Tea Party-affiliated groups across the country learned what it was like to draw the attention of the speech police when they received a lengthy questionnaire from the IRS demanding attendance lists, meeting transcripts, and donor information.”

The benefits of having friends on the inside are well illustrated by a freedom of information request filed with the FCC by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), an organization handsomely funded by left-wing billionaire George Soros. CREW requested a pile of documents concerning Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., which includes Fox News. The FCC, otherwise known for responding slowly and withholding many documents under exemptions for privacy and the like, delivered CREW’s documents in less than a month.

CREW is also urging the friendly FCC to revoke 27 broadcast licenses held by News Corp’s FOX Broadcasting Company. CREW cites phone hacking by News Corp in Britain, which didn’t involve FOX Broadcasting. Of course, CREW’s real concern is not ethics abroad, but ideology at home.

Not content to harass Fox by using only one branch of government, CREW and its allies also sent a letter to Congressional committees demanding hearings on revocation of the licenses.

Bureaucrats and Congressmen have proved useful allies in the left’s war on conservative speech, but sometimes you need the old-fashioned kind of intimidation that only guns can provide.

Accordingly, radical leftists have enlisted the unintentional assistance of the local police in harassing conservative bloggers like Erick Erickson, Patterico, and Mike Stack of Anthony Weiner fame. Using a technique called "SWAT-ting," a 911 call is made, ostensibly from the blogger’s home, to tell the police he just killed somebody. A SWAT team descends on the house and orders the blogger to come out with his hands up.

Of course, enlisting the government’s help in the suppression of speech is not the only problem with SWAT-ting. It’s also a criminal act, something the left is increasingly resorting to to silence conservative voices.

The criminal behavior of those opposed to a California ballot initiative banning gay marriage provides a cautionary tale, as described by Justice Clarence Thomas:

“Some opponents of Proposition 8 … created Web sites with maps showing the locations of homes or businesses of Proposition 8 supporters. Many supporters (or their customers) suffered property damage, or threats of physical violence or death …[including receiving] envelopes containing a white powdery substance.”

One wonders whether such tactics are what Media Matters founder David Brock had in mind when he told Politico that his organization is mounting "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox News and its employees. But even without violence or property damage, harassment and intimidation can be a crime under state law and – if used to suppress free speech – under federal civil rights laws as well.

Media Matters and other groups on the left have the right to boycott, lawfully protest, and denounce opponents to their heart’s content. What they don’t have is the right to commit criminal acts or enlist the government’s help in silencing conservatives – no matter how morally superior and self-righteous the left may feel.

On Monday, President Obama signed the Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012 into law. Among other things, the law puts specific restrictions into place for protestors at military funerals. From Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...tion_type_map=

President Barack Obama signed the Honoring America’s Veterans and Caring for Camp Lejeune Families Act of 2012 into law on Monday, providing a wide-ranging package of benefits to military personnel and enacting new restrictions on protests of service member funerals.

"We have a moral sacred duty to our men and women in uniform," Obama said before signing the bill, according to a pool report. "The graves of our veterans are hallowed grounds."

The new law will have strong implications for the Westboro Baptist Church, a Kansas-based organization which the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League have labeled a hate group. Westboro Baptist Church has drawn media attention for its brand of protest, which frequently links the deaths of soldiers to America's growing acceptance of gays.

Under the new legislation, protests must be held at least 300 feet from military funerals and are prohibited two hours before or after a service. The law counters a 2011 Supreme Court ruling, which found that displays such as Westboro's were protected under the First Amendment.

Members of the church responded defiantly to a Huffington Post report following Congress' passage of the bill, claiming that the law's restrictions could also have an effect on counter-demonstrations organized in response to Westboro's attempts to disrupt military services.

Two of these counter-efforts drew national attention last month, when large groups of people turned out in both Missouri and in Texas in an attempt to create "human walls" to shield attendees of military funerals from Westboro's demonstrations.

(Photos of the Texas event below)

In an interview over the weekend, Westboro spokesman Steven Drain told CNN that the new law was "not going to change our plans at all."

According to the Army Times, future violations of The Honoring America’s Veterans Act would include the possibility of $50,000 in statutory damages.

    [i]comments

I hope it does stop that Westboro bunch. But, I sure wish they'd stop calling them a 'church'. And, if they are allowed to continue the hate speech, how come they keep prosecuting people for saying they disagree with same sex marriage, because it's 'hate speech'.

    ..

Reading the HotAir article, I pretty much share the views of the author there...this law will not hold up on review. However, there is no prohibition on private citizens providing a large layer of insulation.

    ..

Well, if that happens, & it is declared unconstitutional, Obama will just sign an executive order doing it anyway. But, in this particular case, I agree with this. A family dealing with the loss of a loved one, does NOT need to deal with this type of hatred. And, last time I checked, God does NOT hate anybody. That's why Jesus came, to share God's love with mankind. He may hate the sin, but not the sinner.

Stay classy: Michelle Obama fans celebrate speech by cursing Ann Romney
Posted at 11:42 pm on September 4, 2012

What a weird, weird way to pay tribute to the First Lady’s speech. We’re … speechless:

    http://twitchy.com/2012/09/04/stay-c...ng-ann-romney/

I can't quote the tweets ... the BBS filter censors most of the words out... you'll have to go read 'em yourself.

These people couldn't even communicate if it weren't for the F and C word. Love that the word b--ch appears so often on a liberal site. I thought you were all about championing women''s rights.

I find it highly ironic that Michelle Obama waxed on about her father with MS and the struggles he had, yet these bozos say Ann Romney doesn't know about struggle and has felt no pain? I just can't stand reading what these liberals write. The pure hate and vitriole. Is this really where we've come to as a country? Where we can't even acknowledge that someone from the other side made a moving speech? Ann Romney talked about love. Something these people need more of in their life.

But remember, America, in Obama World, there’s no “us or them!” http://twitchy.com/2012/09/04/gag-li...s-versus-them/

“Don’t look now, but Islam is becoming the MSM’s official religion of America”
By drillanwr, on September 26, 2012, at 12:31 pm

Ben Stein has an interesting and troubling observation in his latest column titled, "Something Is Wrong" ...

Don't look now, but Islam is becoming the MSM's official religion of America.

Now, it's not just that no one bats an eye at the amazing truth that the United States is beaming TV ads all over Pakistan apologizing for a derogatory Internet trailer for a nonexistent movie demeaning the being that Muslims call "The Prophet Mohammed." No one in the MSM even slightly hints that doing the kowtow in the same country that sheltered Osama bin Laden to a group that reveled in, delighted in the terrorism against American civilians and still provides the framework for the terrorist Haqqani network, might be humiliating and an insult to the memory of the great Americans who were murdered just last week in Libya.

No, we just take it in stride that our President and our Secretary of State will apologize to the people who hate us and want us dead. That's not what I am referring to.

I am referring to something worse: Have you noticed that in the past few years, and especially in the past few weeks since the murder of the Ambassador and his guards and colleague in Benghazi (a city that Erwin Rommel loved and whose inhabitants he praised), whenever the New York Times refers to Mohammed, they always call him, without quotation marks, The Prophet Mohammed, as if everyone with any sense understands that OF COURSE Mohammed is The One True Prophet and that it's just understood that Mohammed is The Prophet.

I see this in other news outlets and on TV, too. Sober-looking newsmen and newswomen mention Mohammed as The Prophet Mohammed. No ifs, ands or buts. I hear it on the BBC World Service, too.

Now, if Muslims want to believe that Mohammed is The Prophet, God bless them. Fine and dandy. If anyone wants to believe that, good luck to him or her. But why does our mainstream media here in the USA, an overwhelmingly Christian country, refer to Islam's prophet as "The Prophet"?

Have you ever seen any major newspaper here in the USA refer to Jesus Christ as "The Son of God, God Incarnate, The Lord Jesus Christ"? Can you imagine the New York Times running a story about a crucifix resting in urine at an "art gallery" as an offense against "The Lord Jesus, Son of God"? Can you imagine any large newspaper in this country running a story about the Pope and referring to him as "The Holy Father, The Bridge Between Heaven and Earth"? Or about Mary, as "Holy Mary, Mother of God"? It would never happen.

But somehow, probably because the people writing the articles and editing them or the producers on TV news shows fear being beheaded -- and who doesn't? -- we have adopted in our media the Muslim assertion that Mohammed is The Prophet while giving other religious figures the back of our media hand.

This is frightening. We are not supposed to be doing obeisance to a religious group that has many adherents who want us dead. We are not, as journalists, supposed to be labeling anyone as "The" Prophet. But somehow, it's happening. The MSM has become a voice for Islam.

    Read in full.. http://spectator.org/archives/2012/0...thing-is-wrong
Hmm, this might partly explain the MSM's resistance and reluctance to criticize the prophet Obama.

Stein is right, of course, http://www.slate.com/articles/news_a...h_.single.html and the U.N., which is the house of worship of the MSM, had many preaching their bottom line ... http://www.theblaze.com/stories/worl...pheming-islam/

    http://youtu.be/5QwWhlGU4Fs

Get it? Muslims have no personal responsibility for their actions/behavior, so we have to outlaw pissing them off. http://www.washingtonpost.com/nation...7bd_story.html

And as for Al Jazeera's praising of Obama and his UNGA speech, http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obam...5-minutes-iran this is the part of the speech that wiped out what was selected for the above video clip, ‘The Future Must Not Belong To Those Who Slander the Prophet of Islam’... http://www.nationalreview.com/corner...atrina-trinko# http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=oAwMpL7POyo

The man habitually speaks out of both sides of his mouth. He supposedly defends free speech, and in the next breath dictates against it. Free speech is not only what you deem acceptable, or that which you agree with. Nor does it give you the right to snuff-out or obliterate the free speech of others. (Note to woman in the video - Vandalism is violent protest.) This same grandiose speaker right now is stomping on the Catholic bishops, and through them the Catholic religion centered in the Vatican, by mandating they provide something that goes completely against their faith and convictions.

The barbarians dare question our established civility and law. http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.php?nn=9106242452

I Deplore This False, Ego-Centric Equivalence

Obama spoke at the UN yesterday. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/26/wo...mbly-text.html In the course of defending free speech, he offered this jaw-dropper of a false equivalence: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/26/wo...ml?ref=opinion

I know there are some who ask why we don’t just ban such a video. And the answer is enshrined in our laws: Our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech.

Here in the United States, countless publications provoke offense. Like me, the majority of Americans are Christian, and yet we do not ban blasphemy against our most sacred beliefs. As President of our country and Commander-in-Chief of our military, I accept that people are going to call me awful things every day -- (laughter) -- and I will always defend their right to do so.
People criticizing the prophet of a great religion, people criticizing Obama - it's all the same, yes? Obama can endure being mocked, so why can't these foks just get over it when someone mocks their religion?

For heaven's sake, very few of us still equate Obama with a prophet. Yes, there are Muslims who might benefit from having a thicker skin, but only a narcissist like Obama could offer his own mighty forebearance as an analogy and counterexample.

And how great is his forebearance, anyway? I don't recall much hue and cry about "Baracka Flacka Flames as Head of State", but how might the President react to a video depicting Michelle as, I don't know, a crack whore, or a depiction of Sasha and Malia as street hookers? I hope never to see such trash, but I would also hope that Obama's response would be Trumanesque.

Well, less abstractly - the US Supreme Court has upheld laws against cross-burning with the intent of racial intimidation, and rightly so. Even US free speech laws consider some types of expression as beyond the bounds of acceptance. That doesn't mean it would be acceptable for a private citizen to assault a cross-burner, but it would be acceptable for the police to arrest him.

The US does not have laws against blasphemy, but that is partly due to the differences in our history. For another example, spray-painting a swastika can be a hate crime in this country - would Obama like to listen to a lecture from an Indian leader about the religious tradition of that symbol in his country? I hope not.

Shocka: Obama Supported Campus Speech Codes
    Patterico @ 9:09 am

At the Daily Caller, Charles C. Johnson (the “good” Charles Johnson) writes of Obama’s past support for campus speech codes: http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/08/at...#ixzz28itTHfZe

At the height of early-1990s conservative backlash over political correctness and “speech codes” on U.S. college campuses, Barack Obama participated in a panel event geared toward denying that restrictions on free expression were problematic, or happening at all.

The 1991 Harvard Law School yearbook quoted the future President of the United States virtually shrugging his shoulders at the thought that non-liberal white students might take offense at restrictions on speech that minority students found objectionable. “I don’t see a lot of conservatives getting upset if minorities feel silenced,” Obama said, flipping the argument around.

This is no great surprise, and yet, it’s important to bear in mind. Obama comes from an intellectual tradition where it is acceptable to put un-American restraints on speech if doing so makes minorities feel more comfortable. And he argues that, sure, we’re silencing people . . . but they do it to us. Accusing others (often falsely) of engaging in oppression, to justify doing the same thing in response, is, of course, the classic argument of anyone rationalizing a thuggish tactic.

White House Warns: Don't Photoshop Obama Gun Pic

The White House has released a picture purporting to show President Obama "skeet shooting" at Camp David. An activity he claims he does "all the time."

The White House also warns all you mischievous internet types to not mess around with the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/whitehouse/8436110735/

That skeet appears to be flying kind of low....

"This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, emails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House."
Um.... Are you listening, Iowahawk and Ace of Spades?

So ... this would be wrong ? :

    Oh yeah?

What if our use suggests disapproval of the President?

The way I look at it, you have a patriotic duty to Photoshop this image — and I have a patriotic duty to publish your Photoshop.

Send your Photoshops to patterico@gmail.com. http://patterico.com/2013/02/02/phot...iring-shotgun/

Here are some early efforts. Mark Dice:

Whoa. Maybe he Photoshopped it himself!!!

.the picture itself is a joke: he’s holding the gun wrong, has it mounted on his shoulder wrong, has his head in the wrong place if he actually wants to hit a clay now and then, and is standing wrong.

it is painfully obvious that Skeets doesn’t have the vaguest idea of what he is doing, and that’s before i ask why is there powder smoke coming out of only one side of the barrel, when porting is symmetrical and what kind of ammo are they shooting that makes that much smoke.

they didn’t even care enough to make the picture look good: do they not care or is someone letting him look bad on purpose?

    ...

Hey Obama, I'll quit manipulating your scrawny photos when you stop manipulating my freedoms!

    http://chatteringteeth.blogspot.com/...oting-pic.html

    ..

As a work of the United States Federal Government, the photo is in the public domain and everybody has the right to reproduce it and manipulated it as they please. That pompous pronouncement is of no legal effect whatsoever.

    ...

Obama shoots to be banned Shotgun : Browning Citori 725, Series ( in Feinstine Weapons Ban Bill S-150)

    ...

Apparently releasing a picture of him firing a shotgun in isolation, Plouffe called it a rifle lol, is supposed to be skeeter birther proof that Obama goes skeet shooting all the time

    ...

why is there powder smoke coming out of only one side of the barrel ?

For those of us who go snipe hunting but not skeet shooting, is there any reason this would be seen? Do those who know agree with red that the picture is bogus?

    ...

Yeah, the picture is bogus. There’s no indication of recoil. Obama is standing straight up instead of leaning into the shot with most of his weight on the forward foot in anticipation of absorbing strong recoil. Standing straight up is how a skinny lightweight guy gets knocked on his can, at least in the funny papers.

If Obama had really pulled the trigger you would see a violent shock-wave moving through the exposed flesh of his face and arms, his shirt sleeves wouldn’t be hanging straight down, the muzzle would be pitched up somewhat and although the porting would tend to mitigate it to a degree, it would not eliminate the strong tendency to pitch up.

PS: JD, the shotgun he’s holding isn’t a trap gun, they’re longer and have straighter stocks with elevated cheek rests. I’ll explain why they’re made that way if necessary.

In other news : Obama, Superbowl MVP!

Don't even try to disprove this image.
I have it on good authority that this image has not been photoshopped.
