    State of the union address....

    Just my opinion.....

But now it seems bush seems to be focusing on social security. Well Im 23 yrs old. By the time I retire there will be nothing left but I pay in now!!

Bush's plan would cut guaranteed retirement benefits for younger Americans but would not affect checks for people now 55 and older.

IMO...So now the younger generation is taking a cut!

A variety of solutions have been proposed over the years, such as limiting benefits for wealthy retirees, raising the retirement age, indexing benefits to prices rather than wages, discouraging early collection of Social Security benefits and changing the ways benefits are calculated, Bush said.

IMO...Well how old do we have to be to collect our fair share?? 100?

All I have to say about mr. president is What the heck have you been doing in office for the past 4 years??? Should of thought of these great ideas 4 years ago instead of golfing!!!!

or looking for someone to declare war on. The SS plan to be able to put into your own acct sounds cool, but there's a catch somewhere. I wanna know where.

I agree that you cant ONLY rely on SS for retirement but you should be able to get back what you have paid in!

No it isn't a bank account, but it is OURS! If you pay into it that makes it yours. Our Government isn't supporting our elders, they paid into it. The Government has used Social Security intrest free, seems like a bank to me.

Well Bush is now asking Congress for $350 MILLION dollars to support Isreal. Hmmm...what about our young people that won't have social security? Why not ask Congress for $350 MILLION to go to social security?

This generation does support the older generations. Most retired people draw far more than they ever paid into SS. If you even take the highest 30 year bond rate, the interest is nothing.

Re: State of the union address....

I say we keep OUR money in OUR country and stop supporting the rest of the freaking world! Bush is not the only one that has done this. All the presidents who preceded him have given millions upon millions to other countries. No wonder we don't have money for social security!
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching.

    A day without tears
    and without laughter....
    is a day wasted.
