Another Question!
How many here actually pay 10% of your earnings (either before or after taxes) to your Church you attend?

Re: Another Question!
yes we pay our 10% weekly, then when it is tax time we pay our 10% of it too. It all belongs to God anyway. We wouldnt have it if he didn't bless us with the jobs to do so.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE

Amen to that...my husband is paid every two weeks, and we pay 10% of his check, then we pay $30.00 extra for different missions that our Sunday School class helps support. When we get a tax income check, we also pay 10% of that money as well. We have to remember that you can never out-give God. We could never repay Him for everything He's done for us...

Wanting to...
I would like to tithe at my church, but my fiance doesn't want to right now. We do give a fair amount, just not 10% at this time. Chris thinks we don't make enough to be able to do so. We do live paycheck to paycheck because we don't make much, and I'm in school.
I think, though, that when he is received into the Church this spring he might change his mind. Whenever I have received money of my own, however, I do give 10% of it. I'm trying to get disability, and when that comes through, my parish and several other organizations are getting 10% of those payments, plus 10% of the back payment check.

Re: Another Question!
My hubby has always tried to give the 10% even when he was paying child support and supporting two households. It's important. He just sent in $500.00 for the Tsunami relief to the church. They have a special collection for it. We have found that God always provides even when we give and it's hard.

Re: Another Question!
Yeah. I wish I could, but right now, the only income we have is Chris's. I'm hoping his reception into the Church might change his mind. Lots of prayer'll help--it's how he became a Christian!
I've also heard that if you tithe, even if it looks like you'll have to miss a bill to do it, God comes through and helps somehow. Any comments or experiences to share?

Re: Another Question!
I too have wondered about this. My DH and i have gotten into arguements about this very subject. I say we can't afford it and he says we should do it anyway.
I know our finances and he does not. $500 a month is just something we can't afford.
My belief is that you should give what you can, even though I realize that the bible says that you should give 10% of your first fruits(or something like that).

Re: Another Question!
Tithing can be written off your taxes and you get back about 23 cents on every dollar you give to your church. So in it's own way tithing benefits both you and your church. Plus you have to consider any time that you give to the church for projects such as painting or grounds keeping. All of that is part of tithing.
I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints.

Re: Another Question!
Our church aso has time and talent on the stewardship form so if you can't afford to give money you can give time and talent. Plenty of things to help with at the church.

Raven,
I can attest to this staement. My dh and I ALWAYS give 10% PLUS 1.00 for each missionary family, PLUS 5.00 to the van minstry, PLUS 1.00 to each Sunday School class PLUS we buy all of our own materials for Junior Church. We have been to the point of thinking man we're gonna starve but we always get an unexpected bonus from his job or I sell some stuff or we get a check in the mail for surveys or something. We have never really been destitute KWIM??? The song sums it all up.
Our God is an AWESOME GOD!! As well as the verse "My God shall supply all your NEEDS according to his riches in Glory." He has certainly seen us through some REALLY rough times just in the past 6 months. Praises to His name!!
Amen! AMEN! AMEN
