Woman Fails Driver's Test After Car Plunges Into River

THUNDER BAY, Ontario -- An 81-year-old Canadian woman failed her latest driver's test -- with a bang.

Officials in Ontario say the woman was backing out of a parking place -- and went about 25 yards too far. Her car plunged over a steep embankment and into a shallow river.

The woman and the examiner managed to climb out of the car shaken but apparently not hurt. It wasn't the first time this senior citizen had taken a driver's test.

Officials say she had failed five times before. Police are investigating, but no decision has been made on whether to file charges.

They are contemplating filing charges on an 81 year old woman. That is sad.

Wouldn't it just be easier to revoke her license and be done with it? I mean 5 times and the fifth ends up in the water makes me wonder if she should be in a car in the first place in any position other than passenger. Why charge her? For driving backwards into a river? Sounds a bit extreme.

Maybe I'm not understanding it correctly but I didn't think she had a license to begin with. It sounds like she's trying to get her license for the first time. I think if she had a license and failed before they would of taken it away. I don't know why a woman of her age but even bother but I've heard of stranger things. lol
