Help with Wedding Ideas
Well, it only took him 6 1/2 years...but we've finally made it official. What I am looking for is to start to get ideas to involve our sons (his from another relationship and our mutual son) in our ceremony. I know they'll look adorable going down the isle together as ring bearers, but I want them to feel more important in our ceremony. Anyone been to or heard of weddings that really involved their children? Thanks in advance....you guys are great and always come up with something.

I had my daughter as a flower girl she was 5 at the time and my son was ring bearer he was 2.
At the reception they went to our hotel room with the sitter they where tired and needed to eat, unwind and sleep.
We had food and cake brought up to the room from the reception.
You could make the boys ushers where they could seat everyone at the church, just an idea.

That's what I would. dot's would be brides attendants and ds's groom's attendents.

Some people actually have the kids in the ceremony - to show the union of the new family - you would have to write vows that included them, with permission of the officiant.

Hmmmmm.....good ideas. Thanks for your help. Of course, feel free to share any others you come up with, as I have a lot of tie before the wedding!

My son was our best man, LOL (But he was 19 at the time!)

My step-son was in our wedding. His brother wouldn't come. Kids are so different.
I saw a wedding announcement though that I thought was just not a good idea. They had the names of the couple plus the boy of the bride and it said the three of them got married. HUH? I think that is trying to be a too close knit family. Married people need to set boundaries with their children. They are an exclusive couple, it's a marriage between two people. The boy will marry some day and he will have an exclusive relationship with his wife. Keep the lines from blurring. What's going to happen when the boy wants to run the family?

I just saw something on line that sounds like it might work for us....since the boys will both be old enough to do it....someone suggested in an article to have the kids sign their name as the witnesses on the marriage license.
I see what you mean, Janelle, its kinda a lot to say all three got married. Sounds a little weird. But I get what they were trying to say. Luckily, I've been around since his other son was a baby, and he's still too young to reject the idea of being in our wedding.

If you want them to be more involved, maybe you could have them walk you down the aisle and give you away. I have seen that in weddings before. Just an idea.

At my daughters wedding in October she had a 6 yr old as a junior bridesmaid. Why not make the boys groomsmen or even bestmen??
