Ok......Need more help with babysitting.....Sorry I ask for help so much.........
Ok, I need help yet again regarding babysitting. I hope no one minds me asking for help so much. Alright, I am just a private babysitter, so therefore, I am not licensed or certified with the state or anything. Now, one kid that I watch, was going to daycare, and DES was paying for it, but now he comes here to my house, the parents pay me with a check, It is their personal check. Well this is what I heard, they want to keep having DES help them , I guess, and the kids insurance is through DES, So I think DES said that unless there was some kind of proof that they were still paying someone to watch him or he was still in daycare, they were cancelling his insurance. Well DES called me today, I guess to confirm what they were paying me and if they were paying me. Now, my question is, will DES be coming to my house to check stuff out and everything? I'm just curious. Thank you for the help.

Not certain about the childcare laws in your state, but if they have provided DES with their babysitter's name and information, it could happen. And since their daycare is subsidized, and DES has contacted you, I might recommend that you claim this income on your taxes. You could receive a W-2 from them showing your earned income.

Probably not. I babysat for people who received state assistance for daycare. Without being licensed I could only have 4 kids at a time. I hgad to sign some forms stating my rates and that I had a fire extinguisher in my home, that's about it. Just make sure you report your income to the IRS. The State of Missouri sent me a 1099 showing how much I made. It sounds like it works a little different in your state because I had to register with the state before I got paid, the parents just paid the co-pay. Sounds like these parents are just showing proof of child care expenses, not getting state paid daycare. Is that right?
