I signed up a long time ago. I had actually forgotten, but now I try to be active in it. You register cc's, and grocery cards. Then, whenever you use either your cc at a participating retailer, online or b&m, or when you buy qualifying products at the grocery store, they deposit money into your account. So far I haven't earned alot through them, I think my kids each have $6 in their accounts. The way I look at it, though, I have to shop, I may as well earn a little something back for my kids college savings. Every little bit helps.
Same here. I've only made $40 in two years, but it's better than nothing. There are things to do to earn bigger rewards that I haven't done-most of mine has been from shopping at Kroger (which I don't do a whole lot of) and McDonald's. For me, it's free and doesn't take a lot of time, so I do it.
Since you have to have a minimum of $250 to open a 529 w/o a guaranteed monthly direct deposit investment, it does take a long time to get there.
We signed up for the UPromise Citibank card, and that's the biggest contributor to the plan. Otherwise, we might not be participating as much.
I am a member too. I think its a good deal since you can get free college money for stuff you already buy. Its best if you have a grocery store that participates....I buy lots of the grocery items but I do not have a local gracery that participates. I do make a purchase at bed bath and beyond every now and then. They are adding more stores all the time.
Does anyone know if you can register credit cards that you already collect rewards on? I only have a Disney Visa, and get 1% cash back, and wasn't sure if you could "double dip". Thanks!

Yes, you can 'double dip'! I have a credit card that earns Hotel points and another that earns 1% back. I registered both with Upromise and also get credit there for purchases at stores they deal with like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Like the others said though, it's slow earning but just by registering my credit cards and my grocery card I've earned about $20 over the past year by doing nothing! Maybe that'll buy my daughter a textbook someday!
I have almost $100 but most of that came from when I had at&t phone service, if you have that, you get a portion of that bill each month.
I wasn't even thinking when the question was asked but I guess I 'double dip' too. I have a card that earns Savings Bonds for college, plus I do the Upromise and it's always worked for both.
I found this site that tells about upromise and some other rewards programs...pros and cons about the programs.
