Operation Christmas Cards For Troops Overseas check it on FB

This is going to be one of my holiday projects, the instructions are simple and on the FB page, we owe our troops everything, this is a first for me, if I do a couple a day it shouldn't take long to clear out my Christmas Card stash from years of over buying at the end of the season and try to make someone's day in the process. It's not just for Christmas and the instructions are on the page. I'll also be starting my Reverse Advent Collection as I already have a box to donate to the Senior Center for Thanksgiving. Helping a friend collect socks for the homeless shelter and coats for kids (I was reminded kids come in all sizes so adult coats are very much needed). If you have plans and ideas for doing something special for people this holiday season please post and give us all ideas.

    Those are some good ideas.

Can you post the FB page that it's on?

I did something like that about 10 yrs ago with my nieces dance team. One of the other kids' father was overseas, and we sent the whole troop cards, candy canes and cookies.

Search Operation Christmas Cards For Troops Overseas on the FB search line scroll down to "THIS IS THE 2019 PINNED POST!!!!!" hit "continue reading" for instructions, it seems very easy and I'm excited to do something new. That was very nice of you all to do.

Our cast of 'A Christmas Carol' (about 80 children and adults) help collect gifts for children and teens who are in the legal system (foster care or protective service) who might otherwise not receive presents. One of our 'Mom Squad' works in that department and coordinates the drive.

Thats beautiful. God bless you all for thinking of those in not so great situations.

With my FIL passing it's been busier than usual around here I really need to start on my cards, I have until November 27th to say how many I'm sending, I was going to do a few a day but now I think I'll commit an evening to doing as many as possible and let it go from there. Purchase a bunch after the holidays for next year.

As I sit here I wonder if it is too early to start this for Christmas. We have also been doing major purging along with cleaning out my FIL's home and a group in the small town up the road has a sale for children to buy Christmas presents for their families, they use donated items in good condition and have a shopping helper and a person who helps wrap. I want to put all the things I've received over the years that I've left on a shelf, still in the box and put it in a box for the November sale. I wonder how my other half would feel about that. I've been given beautiful things but they aren't my style or I just don't want to dust it. One of the many reasons I give money, make a donation in someones name or just give them a coupon to take them to lunch after the holidays.
