There was a time when I was getting 20 free magazines a month!!!! I think our mailman hated me. Between that and all the free stuff, WOW. Nice thing is I could take the magazines to work, midnights can be very slow it's nice to have a stack of reading material. I'd sit there all night running a big main frame computer with a group of 5 others and then come home and sit here on this site for hours. I consider that the good ol days, now everything is servers, servers, servers. Computers virtually run themselves now.

OH MY, Coupon Binder now that brings back memories, I took mine everywhere, you never knew when you would stop at a store and find a "DEAL" and how I would kick myself if I didn't have it with me. They were the thing and coupons without expiration dates. Now you carry around a coupon for a couple weeks looking for an item and then it expires and poof there is the item you were looking for. I'm still thankful for rainchecks, hoping another coupon will come out. Does anyone remember the Free After Rebates at Menards? Mom and I did those every week, mail them in and get green post cards for our next purchase and we would just roll them into the next FAR, that's how all her sons-in-law got their Christmas Presents, in big boxes, assorted tools, socks, whatever we got FAR and they would sit on the floor like little kids playing with their flashlights or whatever, there was always a limit of 2 and between the 2 of us we could get 4, so all 4 got the same things. Such fond memories and no pictures, men in their late twenties, mid thirties acting like kids before they had kids. One year us girls got a package of 3 boxes of Kleenex!! Mom didn't want to disappoint her guys. Echo's of the past. Nostalgic I guess, my hubby is pushing 60, Mom will be gone a year the end of July, time moves so fast, it doesn't seem like it at the time, what I would give for one more...…
Shopping trip, holiday, falling asleep on the floor after a huge meal, checking all the Black Friday ad's, drive to the St. Louis Galleria, packed stores, BBQ's, picnics, I understand why she sat there and soaked it all in, she knew how fleeting time was, even her last Christmas at 91 we still thought there would be another, why she never wanted it to end, for us to go home, stay a little longer. I sat here and looked at this for a long time, thinking I should delete all this silliness, no one wants to read this kind of thing, but I'm leaving it, hold your loved ones tight, stay a little longer, something happens when the last parent passes, you have your own family now, you won't work as hard to get together, everyone has something to do, some place to go, that "family central" where everyone came isn't there anymore, the place you would drop stuff off for another sibling because they would be stopping by, moms revolving door is now closed.

I miss buying coupons here. It was a nice benefit to both buyers and sellers. Kinda felt like we were all sharing the experience of getting by the best we could. It's a pain to have to print them out, and then be limited to two only, when you were able to buy four or more for a product you wanted to stock up on.

And it was always interesting to see what was on 'For Sale or Trade' or 'In Search Of' requests. I did find some interesting things, and some sellers were open to negotiations. Pretty good community here on BigBig Forum

I always loved getting something in the mail I bought or traded for. I even received things I didn't ask for and that was always a great surprise. Some folks sent me cards when I had to put my dog to sleep, this was one tight knit group and I miss that.

I had a spread sheet of everything I bought and sold, with who, what and their address. A shame when my last computer died taking all the information with it, I loved to reminisce about the good ol' days, I got a great deal on a bunch of DVD's that I sent to my brother-in-law when he was in Iraq, the guys loved them, he left them behind for the next rotation so I am sure they were watched a lot. Everything from samples to golf balls, it was great fun.

Hello, I noticed your signature, at the end of July it will be one year since my mother passed at 91, it has been a very hard year of firsts, people say it gets better. I lost my dad back in 1984 at the age of 52 and maybe it's because it was my dad or maybe because I was young or busy helping my mom with my younger sisters, but the loss seems greater even though we didn't expect her to live forever. I'm 56 and it seems strange that I'm older than my dad ever got, but I know I was blessed to have my mom, who was in very good health for her age, as long as I did. She spent her last couple years in assisted living and only 16 days in hospice as her kidneys failed and she wasn't interested in dialysis. Just wanted to say hi and hope you come around as often as you can.

I have to get to the store and pick up my prescription but I wanted to say HI to everyone who is bored sitting at home, lonely and maybe a little afraid of what is going on. I'm tired of hearing it from the TV, so impersonal, but we know each other and I sincerely hope each and everyone of you is doing well. If you get a chance please reply, it might help someone else feel not so alone.

I am not too bothered by social isolation because I live with someone, but I am making an effort to call or text some people who live alone.

Also, I am supporting our USPS - they need financial support since there has been a drop in commercial mailing. I've bought stamps (postcard stamps are 35 cents - pretty cheap!) and have been sending out postcards and note cards to family and friends. When was the last time you sent or received a personal hand-written message? It is really a special feeling to see that note in your mail. I have friends who work, or have worked, for USPS, tirelessly getting the mail to all the households across the nation. Think about it - for 55 cents, you can sent a card across the city, across the state, or across the nation. How cool is that?

I agree! It's so sad that people don't mail cards and letters anymore. I remember ''back in the day'' when I had pen-pals galore! I know at one time I had about 50, all over the world! I loved getting hand written letters.

I still buy post cards too! They're hard to find, but when I see some I buy them and mail them out.
