Dancers Nicolas And Shenea Stun The Audience With Precision And Strength

This duo, called MainTenanT, take the stage with grace and presence, slowly centering the stage with a pause – then the act unfolds that is simply brilliant. From the first moment, they represent strength, beauty, and precision, and when you see just a glimpse of them, you know they have prepared a flawless routine that was worth all of the countless hours of effort.

MainTenanT is based in Europe, and includes Nicolas Besnard, a professional dancer, and Shenea Booth, a world-champion acrobatic gymnast. Nicolas Besnard has performed worldwide with the group Cirque de Soleil and has performed thousands of shows, and Shenea Booth is a two-time world champion in acrobatic gymnastics and is still performing worldwide. When they combine their skills, the two together are absolutely dynamic.

They begin this performance with a gentle grasp of the hand. But as the real routine begins, it seems as if they simply fall into it because of their perfect, fluid movements. It is amazing how from one pose to the next, there is no hesitation whatsoever – and everyone in the crowd gasps and claps intermittently as the routine seems to become more elegant, and more impressive as it goes on. Bravo to these beautiful, exquisite artists!

LA Police Officers Surprise Lonely WWII Veteran With Christmas Tree, Decor and Presents

Two Los Angeles Police Department officers recently surprised a World War II veteran who was alone for the holidays with a Christmas tree, lights, presents and cheer.
Officers Able Torres and Natali Nunez first met 94-year-old Herman Perry last Friday when they responded to a call from Perry's neighbor Amy who was concerned for his welfare after she hadn't seen him in about a week, Nunez told ABC News today.

"Amy was aware he was recently released from a VA hospital due to an injury from a fall, so she was concerned when she hadn't heard from him as usual," Nunez said. "She tried calling, knocking on the apartment and getting touch with his niece over in Massachusetts, but no one had heard from him, so she was really concerned."

Nunez said she and Torres breathed a "heavy sigh of relief" when they entered his home and found Perry "sitting up wide-eyed and watching TV." It turned out that he hadn't been wearing his hearing aids and wasn't expecting any visitors since he had no nearby family and friends, she said.

The officer added that Perry was alone for the holidays and that his only family was on the other coast of the country.

After finishing their night patrol, they saw a Christmas tree lot across the station and were inspired to surprise Perry.

"It seemed like a great idea at the time, but we totally forgot it was 1 a.m.," she said. Luckily, the owners were still in the lot, and after hearing the officers' sweet surprise plan, he gave them a Christmas tree and lights to Perry and "refused to accept any payment."

The two cops went back to Perry's apartment, set up the tree and lights outside his door, Nunez said. She added that his neighbor Amy woke up and told them she would help with getting the tree to Perry in the morning.

But Nunez and Torres didn't stop there. They went back on Monday to check up on Perry and to deliver a few Christmas gifts -- clothes, slippers, crossword puzzles and cookies -- from some officers in the department, Nunez said.
The officers, along with Perry's neighbor Amy, also helped clean and spruce up the 94-year-old vet's place.

"It was quite endearing to see his surprised reaction," Nunez said. "After finding out he was 94 years old, a World War II vet living by himself, we just didn't feel OK just walking away. People like that, we owe our liberties and freedom to. They've sacrificed so much, so we thought we needed to give back to a veteran who did so much for us. We were quite happy to help him out."

The officers plan to collect more donations since the veteran's apartment still needs more repairs and clean-up. Nunez said that anyone interested in donating or helping out can email her at donate2avet@gmail.com

Man hides $50k donation in nativity scene, surprising non-profit

    http://khqa.com/news/offbeat/donor-hides-50k-donation-surprising-amarillo-non-profit

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A Christmas miracle has an Amarillo non-profit counting its blessings.

Tens of thousands of dollars were donated to the Children's Home in a very unique way. It was all due to a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.
Staffers recall getting the news after a random call.

"The person on the phone asked the receptionist to run outside and check underneath Jesus... And she was very confused," said Darrin Murphy, president of Children's Home. "She went out and found this envelope and inside the envelope was a check for $50,000. As you can imagine, we were just taken aback."

It's a deed workers are calling nothing short of a blessing. Murphy said about 75 percent of the organization's funding comes from donations.
Murphy said staffers noticed the name on the check and contacted the donor.

"He said that one of the reasons he did it was that he gets to see our kids and he watches their interaction, how they treat each other and how they treat their house parents. And he was inspired by them," said Murphy.

It's inspiration Murphy said spans beyond a gift found at a nativity scene. He said it ultimately impacts the children knowing they were motivation for the donation.

"I told [the kids] that people are noticing you, people believe that you have what it takes and people believe in your future," said Murphy. "It was huge for them and they were very excited about that."

The last reply here was on this past Christmas. I've had so much good news since then. I hope if I post it will encourage others to do the same! I loved reading through this thread. So many inspirations!

My good news was/is After being homeless on the streets for a whole year we got into housing/Hud-Section 8 and we moved in here just 4 days before Christmas! It is brand new, we were the first ones to live in this apartment. The entire conplex here is income based and everyone paya 30% of their income. Its beautiful and I am so thankful for it Every single day! Its a section 8 site based voucher and we have already started filling out everything for next year! If we get housing again next year and they have room in thier voucher program we might be able to move into a house and have the rent controlled at 30%.

Since we have been in a home things have started to even out. Since then we have had tons of great news but this is the biggest news we have had in awhile.
