I love me a good ole plain fasnacht. I didn't have one in three years but this year I had two. I was in heaven! I don't use syrup but I just love plain food. You can get them crusted in sugar for a bit of a sweet taste but I just love'm plain!

As for doing something for lent.... No I don't do anything. I'm not a believer in anything and I don't even know if I even went to more then 5 church services in my whole life I don't even know why people walk around with a dirty forehead on Ash Wednesday. I always feel like licking my finger and wiping off their dirty forehead.

I have to laugh at this, many years ago I did meals on wheels. I picked the meals up at a church, well this women came in with a black smudge on her forehead. I was going to tell her she had dirt on her forehead, but then I mentioned it to the gal that ran the place, she then told me it was ashes that the lady knew it was there. Boy, I would have been embarrassed if I had said something.

I live in South Louisiana ... worked at Albertsons ... we got a new manager who hailed from East Texas... about a week after he was with the store he was fussing because I only fried two pans of chicken instead of the usual four. Went and ran the numbers ... didn't understand why we were not selling the usual amount.... Later that day he came over and asked me "Why are all you guys walking around with dirt on your heads" ( I had gone to services at lunch ) So I had to explain all about Ash Wed, Lent, Meatless Meals... the whole deal ... seems that there were no Catholics in the area of East Texas.
Laissez les bon temps rouler! Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.** a 4 day work week & sex slaves ~ I say Tyt for PRESIDENT! Not to be taken internally, literally or seriously ....Suki ebaynni IS THAT BETTER ?

Depends... fasting on Ash Weds and Fridays during Lent... is traditional. Some people do a modified fast the entire 40 days.

A modified fast could take into acount your diabetes What I consider a "modified fast" ... two small meals a day and one regular ... cut down on meat - substitute fish or other proteins ... no junk foods, sweets, sodas.
