What to do with an old tracfone

Okay folks, maybe you could help me. I got a new tracfone and had the number and minutes transferred. so what if I send my old one to the troops or an elderly home, would they get a new number for the phone or would I have to get them a new sims card? what can I do?
    Seems senseless just pitching it!

Most places like Verizon or ATT Stores have boxes where you can drop off unwanted cell phones. They either recycle them or send them to troops.

Since you already had your number transfered over to your new phone, who ever gets your old one would have to get their own card and number.

call local police dept - they often collect them and give them to "at risk" people with the ability to call direct to 911.

I was going to say the same thing as Jolie. Our Sheriff's office give them to a women's shelter. The phones are not activated but you can still call 911 on them. You should remove the sim card before donating it though.
