I had an encounter with a dog today

I went to check the mail. When I was going back inside the house I saw a dog inside the chain link fence in my back yard. I couldn't figure out how it got in there. I went to open the gate and it started growling low in its throat. And as soon as I started to unlock the gate it started lunging at me and growling and barking like it was going to attack me. Needless to say I locked the gate again and ran in the house. I went back out later but I didn't see it. I left the gate open in case it was behind our shed. I believe it would have bit me if I had opened the gate. I've seen this dog wandering around the streets. I'm steering clear of it if I see it again. If someone owns it I hope they don't have kids. That dog is dangerous.

I would have called animal control.

He probably jumped the fence and got in your yard.

I wish I had but he was gone a little later when I went to see if he was there. It was about the size of a beagal but sure acted mean, I don't see how it could have jumped the fence. But if it comes back I am going to call the animal control.

If you see it out wandering again I would call animal control. It needs taken off the streets. It could attack a kid or elderly person. It would have freaked me out it being in my fenced in backyard. I'm afraid of dogs and they know it.

I'm not afraid of dogs but this one was really agressive. It definitely scared me.

No I live within walking distance of a mall. Its right across the highway. I haven't seen it anymore thank goodness. But I do worry about kids in the neighborhood if it gets in anybody elses yards and they try to let it out. It happened so fast yesterday I didn't think to call anyone and when I did it was gone.

Don't call animal control call the police. They will get there way faster than animal control - I was told to do this by our local police when I had a neighbors dog that would come over and growl at me when I went out my side door. Needless to say the dog growled at the officer and well that dog is no longer with us.

That dog would have had a bullet in its head the first time I heard a growl. I won't mess around and put my safety in danger for anyone who allows their dog to be mean and not keep them within their own property.
