Have fun with your first winter. What state did you move from? If you don't know how to drive in snow then ask people how to and watch videos. You do have to be more careful. I live in PA and I do my best to avoid driving in snow, but I know I can if I have to.

You will get used to it. If you live by the lake you will get more snow than the rest of the state. I unfortunately live right by the lake. Last year we had a very mild winter. I'm afraid we are going to be hit hard this winter. Two important tips to driving in snow. You have to brake slower and start sooner and try to stay in one lane on the highway. The snow and slush in between the lanes is dangerous. I also recommend Michelin Hydroedge tires. They are great in snow. I hope you like living in Ohio.

A couple of years ago I had to take my daughter to base in s.c., We drove all night through a horrible snow storm. In fact a police officer at a gas station told us we were crazy and to plan on staying there for a couple days... which she couldn't do anyway. We are from Michigan, we know how to drive in the snow. We go into S.C. and there are cars everywhere, empty, just parked all over the expressway. Not a person or car driving for miles and miles. I told her it looked like the rapture had happened and we were the only people left. Yes, I was bummed, it didn't take me! It was weird!

in some cases here in northern MN, when they say we're getting "SNOW" and be prepared, you know that we are gonna get dumped on.
better head to town and get some essentials to last 3-4 days.
I always have plenty of TP though.
I did hear that we are to get more than normal snow accumulation this year.

I am glad I live in Florida because I would freeze to death if I had to deal with snow. I have actually only seen snow one time and that was enough for me. It was Christmas of 1989 and I was driving from Orlando to my Grandmothers in SE Alabama. Needless to say it is 85 miles from Tallahassee to Cottondale - the exit I take off US 10. Due to frozen bridges it took 5 hours to go 85 miles because we don't have a clue down here what to do with a frozen bridge. Luckily my BFF's Dad would not allow me to take my car since it had power steering and power brakes, so I drove my brothers little Toyota with no PS or PB and it putted across those bridges like it was nothing. There were cars sliding all over the place and they had put up large bumpers to keep people from hitting the edge of the bridge. I decided then and there that I never would live anywhere that got snow as I would be a nervous wreck driving in that mess.
