    My husbands glasses

We got a second claim check yesterday. It seems that lenscrafters filed a claim for us on 10-04-12 and then they filed another claim on 10-16-12 for the same glasses with medicare. I called medicare and they said to not cash the other check. They'll want it back. I called lenscrafters and a lady tried to tell me we came in on the 16th and changed something and thats why they filed another claim. I told her that wasn't true because we got them to mail the glasses to us so my husband wouldn't have to go and pick them up.
Then a man got on the line and tried to tell me the first claim must not have gone through thats why they filed another one. But I knew that wasn't true because we got a check for the first claim on the 4th. The claims they filed were for different amounts too and different dates of service. One was $369 and the other was $474.

This is confusing, so what exactly are you suppose to do?

Hold onto the second check medicare sent me till they send me an envelope to send it back. And if I don't get it this week call medicare and let them know. I just can't figure out why lenscrafters filed a second claim.

Obviously someone at Lens Crafters thought they could double dip. Don't cash that check like Medicare advised. If you don't cash the check even if it takes 6 months for them to send a envelope they can't charge you interest and penalties. Works the same way with the IRS. I sent a check back to the IRS 6 times before they figured out their error. Then they tried to charge me interest and penalties (yes for their error). Since we had not cashed any of the checks they had to eat the penalties and interest charges.

Honestly with all the problems you have had with your Husbands eyesight - he deserves to keep the check but it is not legal.

Oh yeah. Government is very picky. Regardless of whose error it was and they send anyone more money than what they are entitled to, the recipient is required to repay/send back the the check/s. They want to make sure they have enough money in order for the politicos to be able to waste it well.
