    For the "old timers" here ... a sad piece of news. Our old friend ... or in some cases nemesis ... SurferGirl passed away yesterday in California after a brief illness. I will share info on arrangements as I learn more. Please keep her family in your prayers.

    Linda Kay Wagner, 64, of Manteca passed away June 1, 2014 in Modesto, CA. She was born to the late Richard and Kathryn DeVolt on June 30, 1949 in Hinsdale, Illinois. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband Frank R. Wagner.
    Linda leaves behind her son, Mel Wagner and his wife Jenny of Manteca, her grandchildren Xachary Wagner and Andrea Bergeron, both of Manteca. Linda is also survived by her sisters Rickie Fitch of Manteca and Diane Salyer of San Jose.

    Mrs. Wagner graduated from Cupertino High School then attended De Anza College. She has worked as a bookkeeper for different companies. She has been a resident of Manteca the last 8 years. Linda loved traveling with her late husband Frank. She loved reading, arts and crafts. She has always loved animals and always adopted her pets encouraging others to do the same. Linda took great Pride in her cooking and enjoyed baking with her grandchildren. She had a strong faith in God. Linda loved spending time with her family; she will be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

    P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca is honored to serve the Wagner family. Linda will be laid to rest at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, with her husband Frank. A visitation will be held Monday, June 16, 2014 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca, followed by a Graveside Services at 1:30 pm at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 McCabe Rd, Santa Nella, CA.     Thank you, do you know if she died of natural causes or was she sick?

    She had been ill ... but no one realized it was going downhill so quickly. Truthfully her heart was broken after Frank died... and she was never the same.

    That can do it, losing your spouse. I've seen it happen before. Now she is at peace and with her husband.
