    No att uverse!

I signed up with them for internet only for 19.99 a month. Got my first bill, it was $49.99. HUH? Called them and they told me that I had to pay full price for 2 months before the discount kicked in, and then I would also get a credit for the first 2 months. Before I got my next bill, we discovered that our Playstation wouldn't work online with the modem and router they REQUIRE you to use. It was kind of complicated, but to make a long story short, the modem had to be "bridged" allowing it to be compatible with the router.

(AGAIN, both supplied by THEM, but not compatible?)

They told me the only way I could fix this was to have an "upper level" technician fix it, because it is a highly technical issue. HA! Total lie. I have bridged a modem before, it is simply going to your modem's address online (just like typing in a website) and clicking the bridge modem box. FOR REAL.

Turns out AT&T made a new modem that could only be bridged with a password, not supplied to the customer, of course. They wanted to charge me $89.99 for a one time fix, or $15 a month for a year long service contract, with a credit card upfront to fix it. I told them where they could stick it and called the BBB. Even though there was a taped phone call with a saleperson telling me SPECIFICALLY that the PS3 would function online, I got nowhere.

Guess what my next bill was? $49.00 PLUS the $89.99 service charge! It took me 3 months to get that service charge taken off. They tried to tell me that I agreed to it. BTW, I was STILL being charged $49.99 a month as well, 5 months later.

Finally, by the time they owed me $180.00 in credits, (30 a month x 6 mos), I quit paying my bill. They sent me disconnect letters and called me every day. I told them that I shouldn't have to pay another bill for the rest of my one year contract, and they would STILL owe me money. They told me after I paid my bill in full, they would apply the credit. WHATEVER.

I cancelled my credit card, then cancelled my service. Not to mention that you get nowhere NEAR the upload or download speed they promise. When I called to complain about that, I was told it was because of the distance I was from their nearest provider. I was NEVER told that when I signed up.

Even funnier, they still send me collection notices and threaten to turn me over to an agency. Each time I send it back and tell them to go right ahead, since I don't owe then ANYTHING I think they might have a problem with that.

Well, I'm not discounting the previous posters experience... but I just wanted to say I *LOVE* my ATT U-Verse! We've called w/ technical issues and they've never tried to charge us... the internet speeds are not only far superior to their competitors but we get quite a bit above what they have guaranteed... though, I will say, we pay quite a bit for our internet (well, 50 bucks a month, but we can download about 10 gigs of data in less than an hour) because my husband wanted the fastest speeds they offered for in home use. As far as the cable, I can record 3 hd and one non hd at a time and still watch live television. Everyone else around here (comcast, time warner, and local providers) only allow for recording 1 hd and 1 non hd at a time and you can not watch live at the same time. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd leave U-verse unless someone came along w/ the same recording capabilities at a lower price. Oh, the hard drive in the dvr is also about twice the size of our previous providers.
Lord, keep your arm around my shoulder and your hand over my mouth.
