Looks like a neat thing to do and was wondering if anyone has done this?

    Never heard of it.

I'd be more likely to do it though, if the money was actually staying in the US and helping citizens here who are about to lose their homes, or farmers from Texas who lost crops due to the drought.

You get to choose who you want it to go to... so it can stay here if you want it to.

Well... I can't find any in America... so maybe not.

Our church does it as part of our global missions. We also do local and national missions.
    It is a good program.

Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

Thanks for all your replies. I thought it would be pretty cool to do and help someone out, but there are so many scams out there these days that one wants to check things out before just jumping in.

If anyone is serious about charity, please keep it in the U.S.A., and so far over the years, the only one that gets 100% of the donation is St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

I do the United Way through work. I'm in what they call the 30 minute club. I donate 30 minutes of my pay every week. In return I get an extra paid PTO day plus a few other small goodies from my employers.

On my own I give to our local fire depts which are all volunteer companies & then I give to the DAV (disabled American vets) & the VFW.

There is a website that monitors all the charities out there so you can see how much of your money reaches the intended parties. For some reason I seem to think the ASPCA was one of the worse ones out there but don't quote me on that. I wish I could think of the name of that site.
