Lots of yummy ideas! I am going to the in-laws for Thanksgiving but plan on taking some dips such as a hot corn dip, green been casserole and maybe a dessert.

Well I will be recuperating from yet another surgery so my husband is doing the dinner! He is making Turkey, gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, butter and he is buying 2 pies

Tami, your dinner sounds a lot like ours!! It's just me and the two kids this year, and we are making it simple. They are picky and just like the basics, and I pretty much do too!! Making a cheesecake for my son, pumpkin pie for me and apple pie my daughter.

That's why I call my thanksgiving dinner The Misfit Meal! I have people come here who lost their parents or whose family live too far away to go home for the holiday and would otherwise be all alone.

I did the shopping tonight and have everything but the fresh veggies. OMG is this getting expensive. Next year there may have to be a few changes so I don't pay for everything. The meal is going to cost me close to 250.00

That is very kind. You could put out a "donation" basket.

I could never do that. I would be too embarrassed. I say every year I am going to make changes but I never do! It's the only holiday I celebrate except for Memorial Day & the 4th of July. No birthdays, no anniversaries ..... nothing!

It's just hubby and me but I bought a turkey, which he will do and fresh sweet potatoes. (25¢ a pound) I have broccoli and cauliflower and cranberry sauce. I may or may not do mashed potatoes and gravy since he is trying to lose a little weight. Years ago, when my sisters and I all got together with our families, there was always more food on the table than we could eat. The only food that that is 'more than' is the turkey. I love leftovers!

    Does this get cooked?
I parboil the carrtos, just enough to leave them a *little* crisp ... if you use canned carrots, they are too soft and get mushy; if you leave them raw it is a little too crunchy for my taste.

Sorry I missed seeing this earlier.
