I don't mind making a dish to take on holidays... but if I got a letter like that -- well, I'm sure I'd do as I was told, but I'm pretty sure I'd also have something smart to say that would piss everyone off.

Y'all have never been to one of my extended family Thanksgiving dinners. That letter would help a lot for my relatives for if you do not assign things to bring they will all show up with a bag of rolls from Walmart.

What ever happened to bringing food in a crockpot? No need to worry about oven space or things staying warm. And yes, I've had my kids bring out the fixings and make it here. Doesn't bother me. And we use disposable plates, forks etc when possible. So sue me I'm just glad I don't have to fix the whole meal

I fix the whole meal including appetizers for a very strange bunch of eaters! I have 2 people who don't eat meat so I do a to****ey for them but one likes theirs cooked in mushroom gravy (yes, I know its base is meat) where the other one has to have it plain. Then I have 1 friend who don't eat pork so I have to make two separate potato fillings because the one I like the best has pork breakfast sausage in it, plus she doesn't like veggies too much. Then I also try to make something different every year & see if we like it, if we do then it stays on the menu.

I love everything about it & doing it all except the desserts. I will make pumpkin rolls but I have someone else bring homemade desserts since they love to bake but I do make the homemade whipped cream.

We seat about 100 people for Thanksgiving ... we pray for good weather and set the banquest tables outside. One year it rained and we ate in shifts in the garage. LOL We assign dishes ... nothing this OCD but my sister comes close. I have copper pennies and carrot soufle` this year. We haven;t been "allowed" to have cornbread dressing since my Dad passed... that was his favorite and it upsets my mom to even smell it
Laissez les bon temps rouler! Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.** a 4 day work week & sex slaves ~ I say Tyt for PRESIDENT! Not to be taken internally, literally or seriously ....Suki ebaynni IS THAT BETTER ?

We go to either my cousin's in Orlando (Dad's side of the family) or to my cousin in Enterprise, AL (Mom's side of the family). There are at least 50 or more of us. We got smart long ago since those 2 cousins have a huge great room that the furniture can be moved and bring in banquet tables easily. We have had it rain many years and have ended up having kids play in the middle of the room when we clear out the tables. We all feel it is more fair to have everyone bring something so it is not all dropped on one person financially and physically. There are several of us that send cash to the ones bringing turkey or the ham since it can get expensive especially when I am the one they want sweet potato casserole which to me is probably one of the least expensive things to bring (it also takes no time to make).

However, this year I agree with justme23 I'm going to Wobblypops house.
