fSome fast food restaurants want to accept food stamps
I just heard on the news they're petitioning the government so they can accept food stamps for their food. I wonder if the government will let them do it? It seems like that would make peoples food stamps not go very for and not last the whole month.

IMO public assistance (food stamps included) is for basic needs. Going out to eat is not "basic needs"....neither is a cell phone.
Will they tip with a food stamp too?
That's a treat in our house.

I guess fast food restaurants are realizing people don't have as much money for fast food so they're trying to tap into food stamp income. I can't see the government allowing it though because they're on this health food kick about fast food being bad for kids health.

The goverment wants to dictate what the general public eats... regulating sugar and salts, fats and cards... but if the goverment tries to regulate what goverment funds are spent on regarding food stamps... suddenly we are trampling on the Civil Rights of the poor. ( Actually we are trampling on the monies of the junkfood, snack, and soda industries.
Food stamps can't be used to purchase prepared hot foods ... like fried chicken from the deli in a market ... so how would it be used at KFC?

It wouldn't surprise me if they did allow it. After talking about how unhealthy fast food is. But it might bite the fast food places in the butt in the long run because they might force them to make their food only healthy if they allow it.

That's stupid, people would probably go out to eat for about a week straight or something, and then have nothing for the rest of the month. I don't see it going far, then they would have to allow them to buy hot cooked food at the grocery store, gas stations etc...

I hate the Government trying to interefere in our lives but some people really dont have any sense. They definetely need to regulate what food stamps can be used on. You can buy steak and shrimp with them, pop... all kinds of junk food. I wish I had some help buying my healthy food from the store....Oh well!

Steak and shrimp are protein.... chips, sodas, candy, ice cream .... are not what I call "healthy"
