Can someone explain it to me???

What is the big attraction in the fashion industry with all the skeleton heads? They are everywhere, all over the place. My grandson even has them all over his underwear. He is only 3.

I don't see the attraction at all.

    Pirates of the Caribbean, perhaps?

That's about when it started I think.

But if it doesn't have Capn' Jack's skull, I won't wear it!

Even Dr. Laura had a skeleton head on her shirt and she is very conservative so I wondered if it had a message I don't know about.

My grandson told me they are bees since they are small and all over it so it could look like bees but how do you tell small kids it's a skull? They can't understand it and I don't know why they would have underpants like that for kids. Just weird to me.

I like the skulls... it's just something I like, there is no rhyme or reason... and I've been wearing them, decorating with them... anything I can with them since I was in high school 20 years ago... but why the surge in popularity lately... I don't know.

I think it is more "goth" inspired than anything. I think it is really popular with the X-Games crowd & now is popular to the younger masses through that influence.

It is a trend & with probably be considered uncool by this time next year. Remember how crazy parents went to get those crazy bands from last year? Now they are on clearance racks everywhere.

Okay, I don't mean to be argumentative... but it's not a goth thing... x gamers aren't goth kids and skulls were around long before the goth kids were... that's not to say the goth kids don't wear them... but it's not a "goth" thing. I couldn't be less goth... I listen to country music and am quite a redneck... I had some goth friends about 10 years ago... I was their nanny, actually (who knew, right?)... and skulls weren't really their thing... just black.

And I can say w/out a doubt, the skulls will be around next year... and the year after that... and on and on... I have a pic of a family member wearing one around his neck way back in the 70s... they aren't going anywhere... they may lose some popularity in the mainstream ... but they won't go away. None of you have ever been in a hot topic or shopped their online store? Yeah... not goin anywhere.

Just...I have no clue as to why this is popular nor do I really care. I was just responding to the OP & basically saying it is a fad he will outgrow. My kids went through their "weird' fashion fads too but they outgrew them.

Lordy I don't shop at Hot Topic. My youngest son did when he was in his teens & early 20's but now he is working as a graphic artist in a design studio so skulls would be a no-no for him. We went in there maybe a year ago & he asked me why he ever thought that stuff was "cool".

To me each his/her own...wear what you want & don't care what other people think. I know I probably dress a bit on the young side but my problem is that I wear such a small size it is difficult to find sizes that aren't junior but no I wouldn't go to work wearing black lipstick, fishnet stockings & a dog collar. Hey we are all unique individuals & should express ourselves in what makes us happy.

Nothin wrong with dressing young... I wouldn't wear black lipstick, fishnet stockings (ok, so I do wear those for hubby, but I'd never leave the house in them) or dog collars either... and I would love to dress young, but I'm a big girl, so I have to wear what I can and young doesn't really fit in that category... so I try to do accessories as much as I can.... but anyways, I really wasn't trying to be argumentative... just participating in the convo.
