getting dog urine out of a mattress?
I sprayed it down twice with apholstry cleaner but now it just smells like some combination of dog wee wee and apholstry cleaner.
Am desperate for suggestions. Thanks.

I hope you get the answer soon... one of my dogs likes to mark and has managed to mark the corners of my box spring... I have a carpet cleaner w/ an upholstery attachment that I was going to try but I was kind of worried that would just make it seep in more... he's no longer allowed to sleep in the bedroom with us... I miss him but it had to be done.

I just have a studio apt. so I put a toddler gate up across the side of the bed he can jump up on. I can't believe he did this. I've had him for 10 yrs. and he's never done this before.

My son had a cat that used to pee on his bed all of the time. I ended up having to replace his rug & matress once the cat passed away.
While the cat was with us I used something called either Odorban or Urine-B-Gone. Then I bought 2 waterproof mattress covers.

Vinegar will get the smell out. If you have a carpet cleaner with attachment, put it in the tank with the water. Our dog did it once too. Also, Walmart brand of Lysol works wonders on pet odors!

Get up as much of the wet spot you can. Sprinkle baking soda on spot...vacuum up after around 20 minutes. Use your carpet cleaner attachment w/vinegar/water solution. Really does work. If you're pressed for time and can't wait for spot to dry I've used a hair dryer in the past for quick drying. Good luck. I know it's a hassle.

Waterproof covers are a good idea. In my opinion once a pet "marks" their territory all the cleaners, sprays, etc. usually doesn't help. Pets sense of smell is far stronger than ours!

Odoban gets out cat urine smell so I am sure it will work on dog urine. I have found it at Sam's club so I am pretty sure you should be able to get it at Wal-Mart. HTH
