house cleaning ?
Does anyone know how much most house cleaning services clean a 3 bedroom/2 bath house for......just basic cleaning? I was just wondering about what price most charge.

I truly think it depends on where you live. I live in S. California and a basic bi-weekly cleaning for a house that size can run between $50 and $75. That's if you have someone out regularly. A private person will be cheaper and agencies like "Merry Maids" will cost you more. Whenever I have had someone out for the first time...the fee is usually doubled.
My house is 3000 sq. ft and I pay $80 every other week...but that's because it's just hubby and I at home now. Many of the rooms are completely picked up and all the cleaning crew needs to do is dust and do the floors or vacuum the carpet. We aren't charged as much as would be standard because hubby and I are kind of neat freaks in the first place.
I think the Los Angeles area is on the higher cost side. So, depending on where you live, it might be cheaper.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

I pay $15 hr and she cleans 7 or 8 hrs a week, so $105 to $120 a week. I wish I lived where some of you live if you get it that cheap. It is just dh and me and the house isn't that big. 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, etc.

It's about 30 dollars an hour here if you want someone who does it right. You can get it cheaper, but all they really do is wipe down counters, make beds, vacuum and pour bleach in the toilets... well I can do all that myself in 2 seconds flat... if I want someone to come in and do actual cleaning, scrubbing toilets, changing and washing linens, sweeping and mopping, cleaning baseboards and ceiling edges and corners... then it's about 30 bucks an hour.

I am in the wrong profession! I need to be making 30 bucks an hour.
Here it is 50 bucks for cleaning and they will come out once a week and do whatever you want done.
But you are right, if you dont have them come very often then the price goes way up.

My husband is the only one that works... and even though the money is "ours", I wouldn't dare hire a house cleaner without discussing it with him... not to mention the fact that since I don't work and we don't have kids, there's really no need for a house cleaner... but I can tell you this, only one person I know hires a house cleaner, and she only does it twice a year to do all the deep cleaning she can't do herself. My grandmother used to hire one that came in twice a month, but they can't afford it any more.

Would you really want to clean up somebody's nasty, skid mark drawers??? LOL Not meeee!!
I am the same way about my house though, I am a clean control freak. I really want to have a professional come in after the remodel & give my house a great cleanning but, knowing me, I will have to clean BEFORE they come because I don't want to look like I am a dirty person. Trust me, germs have to wipe their feet before coming into my house.

I would never want someone to wash mine or my familys clothes, that's just icky to me. That's like someone cleaning out my underwear drawer or something..
I use to clean houses, for a little while, big ones though, people that could just hand you money. I remember one, I had to come in for a "very deep" clean. Took 2 days, 3 hours each day. He gave me a $100. Then every other week, once a week, $50 each time. After getting past that deep clean, it's fairly easy to do the up-keep. He was just one man. If you can get enough houses under your belt to clean, you can make some good money.
