Hello my daughter is geting ready to turn the SWEET 16 anyway she has came across a couple of cars that we are needing some info on I was wondering if any of you know any blogs (sites) i can look at to see what people are saying. 1 is a Malibu 06 maxx the other is a malibu 05 and I forgot 1 more a pontiac booneville 01 thanks

If you are buying a used car your best bet is to get one from a dealership, you will pay more but you are more likely to get a good running vechile. Do not buy a car without a warrenty

You wont find a car that old with a warrenty from a dealer or not.
My daughter just bought a used car and we were pretty enlightened as to the Manufacturers warrenty limits.
Chevrolet 100000 or 10 years
Ford 50000 5 years
Dodge 35000 3 years
These transfered over to the new owners too. Guess which one she bought???? Dodge, of course!

On most used cars the most you will get is a very limited 30 day warranty which will cover nothing. DO NOT get suckered into purchasing an extended warranty unless it is a brand new car from a manufacturer's dealership. The warranties listed above are not always correct. Jeeps, Chrysler & Dodge have a 3 year 36000 mile manufacturers warranty and depending on when you purchased the vehicle they might have a 100,000 to lifetime limited warranty on the drive train. I know when I purchased my last Jeep in 2008 they had lifetime on drive train. The others listed above for Ford and Chevy are for the drive train only - they have the 3 year 36000 mile on the other stuff like Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge. People don't realize there are different warranties on each item.

My ds has a Malibu & loves it. He keeps saying he will never get rid of that car. He will just keep restoring it he is in that much love with his car.
About extended warranties... I have an Impala that I has leased. The lease was expring & I had the choice to purchase it or go into another lease with a new car. My Impala had less than 30,000 miles on it. I had an appointment to test drive a new car the day after I found out that the lump I found was suspicious. The last thing I wanted/needed to do was car shop. I was just in no shape to think so I opted to purchase my car & took the extended warranty. A month later, I even forget what it was, went on my car. It was an over $3,000 repair so the extended warranty more than paid for itself.

I have the manufacturer extended warranty on my Jeep - I know my luck with cars so I always get one. With that being said never purchase one of those warranties that is not from the manufacturer they are usually a rip off and don't pay for anything.

When I bought my Trailblazer from a local dealer it was four years old and had about 60,000 miles. I bought the three year warranty on engine and some other stuff and he gave me the three year warranty on the heating and air. Within about six months they replaced the transmission and a year later replaced the air conditioner. So yes, you can get warranties on older cars. Make sure the dealer is reputable and check into the warranty company before you buy.
