    diets for weight loss

Have you ever gone on a diet and been unsuccessful?

I have lost so much weight over the years and then gained it back plus a lb or 2.

Have you given up trying to lose?

I have given up trying to take off weight. I try to watch what I eat.

I decided to count calories and found I do eat more calories per day than I thought I did.
My cardiologist says my weight is important but as long as I continue to go swimming 3 times a week, he will accept my weight.

I have the same problem but I stay active (except for Sundays, that's my lazy day) and I really want to try the Zumba....but I'm with you!

Keep low calorie foods in the house.
I stock up on soup, alot are 200 calories per can. I also stock up on yogurt, alot are 100 calories. I keep lots of fresh veggies (lettuce, carrots, green peppers) in the house, so I can make a salad, I buy low calorie salad dressing, right now my fav is KEN's Sweet Vidalia Onion (OMG it's so good! and is only about 80 calories per serving..rarely do I use a full serving), also with my salad I eat 2 hard-boiled eggs which are about 90 calories each, then I top it off with a half a can of tuna which is about 100 calories.
Also, read labels! Some foods that are low in fat are actually high in sugar. And it's usually not bad fat that they are low in. Like peanut butter. I was reading the ingredients of Triskets and the low-fat ones are higher in calories than the regular ones.
When I do pay attention to calories, I definitely eat less of them. I love that most restaurants now-a-days have the calorie count posted., it definitely helps me make better decisions.
I will not deprive myself of good food., but I try to make healthy choices, like I love mayonaise., I could eat mayo on everything, but when I do, I only eat half the serving or less.
When I bake, I always use less sugar and less butter than the recipe calls for.
Right now blueberries are on sale, so I make cobbler., very easy to cut the calories out while not affecting the out come of the cobbler.

It's great that you are swimming., swimming uses every muscle in the body., so while it may seem like you are not losing weight, you are gaining muscle, which weighs more than fat.
Rudeness is the weak person's imitation of strength.
