Do you get what you ask for , for Christmas?

I no longer ask for a particular thing for Christmas. I don't get what I want and then I'm stuck with it. Asking for a particular thing is the kiss of death. One yr I asked for a Barry White album. I got a Barry White album but not the one I wanted. Once I asked for a lamp table, got one but not the right one. Once I asked for inexpensive little stud pearl earrings , got dangly pearl earrings. See what I mean. So now I buy it for myself if I want it and wrap it and put it under the tree from myself. My mom used to do this. One time she poured a bottle of perfume down the toilet because it wasn't the kind she asked for. I didn't understand then but I do now. What about you?
Do you get what you ask for?

i usally ask for money, if i can't have that i take Sweetie to the store and run around the store with him and point to everything i like. and i tell him don't get me anything for the house i can get that my self. if that don't work, get magazines and cutout pictures of things you like and leave them all over the house including the bathroom. Saw this in a movie once and it worked. good luck and merry christmas and happy new year. sometimes i do.

My daughter asked me what I wanted, told her I wanted gift cards and that's what I got. She was happy. I am happy. I wish I had thought to ask for a GC before now though, would have saved a lot of returns, etc.

I'd rather not know I'm like a kid I like surprises. But if I do ask for something he always tries to get it.

Joe is so in tune with me, that I get what I want.. RIGHT!?!?!?!

I just asked for a waffle iron. I bet I get an electric frying pan.
But, as long as he tries, I am ok with it

Growing up in a house with 5 kids on a tight budget must have conditioned me. I never seemed to get the particular thing I wanted, always something close. But there was always something hand picked or hand made that caught me. I know I don't even have these things now, but I remember them and how much they mean to me now even though they are long ago lost. Some of the things I have gotten that are not neccesities are under lock and key, but on display. The needed or wanted get used regardless. Even though I never wear jewelry, everything that wasn't stolen is kept for me to get out and look at and cherish, and will be passed on to someone. Whether they Efen like the darn thing or not!!!!!

My mom always tried (mostly succeeded) in getting me what I wanted for birthdays, Christmas. Aggie I gave up on years ago when I got a kitchen appliance for an anniversary, Christmas gift (all in the same month). I now wait til after the holidays and take the Kay's card usually and go buy me something. Aggie's usually none the wiser for it. Aggie does get birthday, anniversary, Christmas presents which are all in the same month.
