Do you have to wake your kids up on Christmas morning?
For as long as I can remember, I could never sleep on Christmas Eve night. We would go to bed and my sister and I would be awake WAY before dawn, asking Mom & Dad if we could get up and open gifts yet. We always got shooed back to bed!
My kids are 17 and 11 and every year since they were born WE'VE had to wake THEM up on Christmas morning! We usually try to get up around 7 or so so that we can open our gifts as a family, then my family comes over and we have our family Christmas here.
I just always thought kids getting up early on Christmas morning was a given, but not in my house!

I can only remember getting up early once when I was little and getting told to go back to bed. So the other years I couldn't tell you if I got up on my own or not. My kids when they were little always got up early for Christmas and was told to go back to bed. As they got older though they slept in a little later and I had to get them up a few times. Now it is my 4 year old granddaughter and this year she gets more on what is going on so I bet she will be getting up earlier than normal.

Mine just usually wake at their normal time, maybe slightly earlier. But we are usually out late on Christmas eve so that is probably why they don't wake up extra early!

I always remember getting up early as a child and being told to go back to bed for awhile. Now most times, we have to wake the kids up. Last year I woke them up at 4 am,lol. Just yesterday, my 8 yr old said "Mom please don't wake us up early this year." They always go back to bed afterwards though.

My son has a hard time going to bed on Christmas Eve and then will wake up at like 2 or 3 am and wake the whole house up. If we stay up and open presents then everyone ends up going back to bed afterward, so I like to make them wait until it's at least 6.

I was the same way as the OP. I couldn't sleep on Christmas Eve (which is also my birthday)...and my brother and I knew there would be trouble if we got up before it was light outside.
With my own kids (who are now grown with kids of their own)...we had to wake them up. My hubby and I would get up early and start making breakfast. We make a special pastry every Christmas morning which takes about a hour to prepare and then bake. It would be done and my kids would still be asleep!
My grandkids pretty much wake up on their own though.
Never argue with an idiot. It will bring you down to his level and he’ll win because of experience.

NO my siblings and I never had to be awakened, we always were told to wait. NO my children never had to be awakened.
We did have one rule, who ever got up first had to wake everyone else up, no one was allowed to go in and open their presents alone.

My 23 year old daughter wakes us all up at the crack of dawn. She has always had to wake her little brother up because he would sleep in if she didn't. We open presents then lay back down for an hour or two then we go to my aunt's for Christmas dinner. I can't remember getting up early when I was young.

We would wake up early and play with items Santa left out. Presents would be opened as a family ... and everytime you asked if the parents were up.... Daddy would add another 15 minutes to his "sleep time".
