I prefer to defrost it in the sink but last yr I did it in the microwave. I put the turkey in the microwave and ran it one minute, since I was in the kitchen cooking, it was convenient to push the button for a minute or 2 every 10 min and it defrosted fine.

In the fridge. I am too afraid of poultry bacteria to do it any other way.

Well...I know I mentioned that we always put the turkey in the refrigerator. Well...our extra refrigerator died last year and we figured we wouldn't replace it. Well, we just realized one of the main reasons we have it...to defrost the turkey and keep it. So, hubby and I went out and bought a new refrigerator for the garage on Friday night. It gets delivered today.

I know it sounds frivolous, but we do use it for storing drinks, etc. And, we entertain a lot and our main refrigerator just doesn't meet our needs.

We did just buy a basic model with freezer on top. We would have liked one without a freezer because we have a free-standing freezer in the garage as well. But, we couldn't find a refrigerator without one. So, turkey goes in the refrigerator today.

Hahahaha! Wow.....I am almost speechless. Do your guest know you thaw it in the tub? (LMAO) I really hope you were joking cause if anyone you know visits this site - you won't be seeing them at Thanksgiving dinner...LOL

BTW - I'm just messing with you. I had to laugh cause I have never heard or read anyone thawing a turkey in a bathtub.

Don't worry about what people think. They don't do it very often.

If I forget to take it out I remove the agitator from my washer and let him soak in there.

Mine is just 12 pounds, so it has been thawing since last night... in the fridge, in the big red bowl, like every year.
But I have read nasty stories, where you can leave it wrapped and place it in the toilet, flushing every 5 minutes for 2 hours every 3 pounds (GAG GAG GAG)
Or run your car, and place it on the hood for 3 to 4 hours

    People do crazy things.

Just for fun I googled "thaw turkey in toilet" and lots of results came up. Ack, that is just too nasty.

thawed it in the fridge where mr. potatoes and tomatoes lay, for whole day, i always prep everything earlier than usual. It didn't spoil because it was soo good that nothing left to spoil in the first place
